The selfishness in man
A chief once called for a feast and asked all the invited to bring along some wine. One man named Bisong wanted so much to be at the feast, but he had no wine. His wife asked him to purchase some wine, but he did not think it made sense to spend money for a feast that ought to be free.
So he thought to himself "If everyone pours wine into the big jar and I pour in water, my... little calabash of water wouldnt adulterate the wine that others have dispensed ". So on the day of the event, Bisong was there with water. Everyone poured his content into a big earthen jar and so did he.
At the command of the chief, the stewards served the content into everyone's cup. Bisong was so unsettled in his seat; his mouth watered for a sip of some good palm wine. When the chief signaled, all the guests put their cups to their lips only to taste water.
In the end, every person had thought the others will bring wine and brought water hoping it will not cause dilution.
