Why leadership, not management-changes schools.

Early in my leadership journey, I realised something important, and it’s that
running a school efficiently does not automatically mean leading it effectively.

We had policies, routines, and reports, but something was constant; morale was low.
The turning point came when leadership shifted from control to inspiration. Once the teachers felt heard and trusted, performance changed naturally.

That was my first real lesson in transformational leadership. The books didn’t teach me this, first hand intentional experience did.

Transformational leadership in education is no longer optional, it is essential. A core ingredient for human-driven success. Educational management ensures systems run.
Transformational leadership ensures people grow.

In many of our schools today, the real challenge is not lack of policies, no, it’s most times the lack of leadership that moves hearts and minds.

When leadership transforms people, management transforms outcomes.

On Monday last week, we started an interesting conversation on EdTech -its meaning, significance in today's educational ecosystem, and some examples of EdTech Tools teachers or digital educators can use to engage learners actively.

Today, I’d be concluding the Episode 1 series with with points number 3 and 4.

3. Accessibility and Inclusivity
How does technology make learning accessible and inclusive?

It's simple, technology breaks down barriers. Tools like speech-to-text help students with disabilities, while translators support multilingual learners, making education more inclusive. I have a lot of my former and current students perform better just because of an integration of tech to their subsequent lessons, through quizziz, Kahoot; and during formative Computer-Based assessments using Microsoft Forms on Teams.

4. Skills for the Future
Today’s students are tomorrow’s workforce. EdTech isn’t just about school—it’s preparation for a tech-driven world. It's about giving students knowledge autonomy, and being in charge of how they learn best.
During the last career counseling sessions with my students, we saw an increase in choice for tech-related careers. Even the intending lawyers, doctors, and fashion designers, all mentioned tech as a key driver of success for their intending pathways.
