The 2025 World Intellectual Property Day, themed “Feel the Beat of IP,” sought to raise awareness of the vital role music plays in society and to highlight the importance of ensuring that creators and other key stakeholders in the music industry are adequately protected and fairly compensated for their works.
In alignment with the objectives of this year’s World Intellectual Property Day, and in commemoration of World Music Day, celebrated annually on June 21st; members of KENNA’s Intellectual Property Team analyse the recently released Collective Management Regulations, 2025 by the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) and its potential impact on safeguarding the rights of music owners and rights holders in Nigeria.
