The Imo State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has raised concerns over an alleged plan by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to hold elections in polling units with zero voter registration. The LP chairman, Callistus Ihejiagwa, claimed that the affected areas are considered catchment points for the All-Progressives Congress (APC) and alleged that there is a collaboration between APC and INEC to conduct elections in those units, which he described as a breach of the Electoral Act and Electoral Guidelines. He called on relevant authorities, including the Federal Government, security agencies, and international observers, to investigate the allegations and ensure a free and fair electoral process in the state. INEC has stated that it will not conduct elections in the 38 polling units with zero registration.
