📣 Let’s Talk About It: S*x Education for Children, The Right Time, the Right Way 💬

S*x education isn’t one big talk , it’s an ongoing conversation that grows with your child. Teaching boys and girls about their bodies, boundaries, and respect is not just okay, it’s necessary. Here's a quick guide to get it right ✅:

🔹 Ages 2–5:
🔸 Use proper names for body parts (e.g., p***s, v***a).
🔸 Teach safe and unsafe touch.
🔸 Encourage body autonomy: “You don’t have to hug if you don’t want to.”
🔸 Normalize privacy and respect for others’ bodies.

🔹 Ages 6–9:
🔸 Discuss basic reproductive facts and where babies come from (age-appropriately).
🔸 Talk about feelings, boundaries, and consent in friendships.
🔸 Begin simple conversations about puberty.

🔹 Ages 10–12:
🔸 Dive deeper into puberty changes for both genders.
🔸 Explain menstruation, wet dreams, hygiene, and emotions.
🔸 Talk about peer pressure and the value of self-respect and choice.

🔹 Teens (13+):
🔸 Discuss s*x, protection, relationships, respect, consent, and online safety.
🔸 Talk about values, choices, and consequences.
🔸 Keep communication open and judgment-free , they need safe adults to talk to.

It’s not about just s*x , it’s about safety, self-worth, and smart choices.
Both boys and girls deserve the same honest, age-appropriate information.
Silence doesn’t protect them , knowledge does. 🛡️

The Power of a Name 💛

As teachers, one of the most meaningful things we can do is simply remember our pupils’ names. It may seem small, but it goes a very long way ,it creates connection, builds trust, and makes children (and their families) feel seen and valued.

A few weeks ago, I had a beautiful encounter that reminded me of this truth. I met a man with his adorable baby girl, about 7 months old. As a curious educator, I struck up a conversation ,asking questions, listening, and learning. It turned out he was her father, and during that brief chat, I learned her name.

Fast forward a month later, I saw them again, this time in a tricycle. I smiled and called the baby by her name.

He was stunned.
“Wow, you still remember her name?” he said, visibly moved.
He told me how special that made him feel , so much so that he paid my transport fare that day! 😄

That simple moment reminded me just how important it is to pay attention, to listen, and to remember. Names carry meaning, identity, and value ,especially for children.

So to every educator reading this: never underestimate the impact of calling your pupils by name. It’s not just about learning, it’s about belonging. 💛

INDIVIDUAL THAT GOT ME INSPIRED
I call him my dearest uncle so meek,kind,caring,humble wow 😳his wife is lucky.

The only uncle who loves to call me aunty.....🥴I was better use to it because he won't stop calling me that.

I remembered vividly some years ago I told him about him about my plan to go for and his response blew my mind,I can never forget.

He said "yes! Why not? I trust you will make it there and do so well"This was mind blowing at first I thought he was pulling my legs, so I told him I don't think I have the voice and every other thing to be there , surprisingly to me he just laughed and said isn't about the voice or any other thing but is about your uniqueness and that is all that matters .Ever since then I have been bold and courageous to take that step and also to tell people around me about it without not fearing am going to be mocked or laughed at,well yes I made it to the Nigeria idol auditions but wasn't picked for the final screen audition 😪,I also have an opportunity to go for the voice of Africa auditions with my hubby but (e be like say my village people dey do me)I lost my reg number but all hope is not lost 🤣🤣will continue the doings till I get there by God's grace.
