★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
Amaka, you think you are becoming smart to the extent of refusing my desire? You can’t escape this; you must wear that P***t either by peace or by pieces. I already swore that over my dead body will I watch you give birth to that child. I can never call you my Queen.

So since the pregnancy has refused to abort, you have to die for me to achieve my dream. Chioma said to herself as she moved out of Queen Ijeoma’s room.

Back in Queen Ijeoma’s room

“What should I do now, God? She must not give birth to that child. If she does, my own is finished. I don’t even know what Chioma is saying. She is my only hope of achieving this. God, please, just do this last thing for me. After this one, I promise to stop doing evil,” Queen Ijeoma said as she knelt down praying.

Amaka:
“I had a dream last time that Chioma was chasing me with a cutlass. That’s not a good dream. Secondly, Grandma said she’s not a good friend. I know Grandma must have noticed something fishy before saying so, because the Grandma that I know will not just wake up and say that kind of thing.

As for the abortion incident, I won’t go there. But what Chioma did today is surprising. She was trying to convince me to wear that P***t even after telling her what the madman said. The look in her eyes isn’t friendly.

I remember the madman said my P***t was taken to a dark kingdom, and he also said I have plenty of enemies. But come to think of it, who could these enemies be? I know Queen Ijeoma doesn’t like me, but I don’t think she could be after my life.

But they say the enemy you know is better than the angel you don’t know. Hmm, that’s true oh.

If Chioma is really a good friend, she should have even told me to throw away that P***t after hearing what the madman said. Instead, she continued to persuade me to wear it, even when I told her something whispered to me not to wear it.

Yes, I expected all these from her, but she didn’t. Don’t tell me I’ve been acting foolish all this while. I never thought of any of these things till now.

I trusted Chioma, believing she can’t harm me. And I still find it hard to believe that she has something bad in mind towards me. But this whole thing doesn’t make sense to me.

Sha… Let me continue observing her to know if she has anything in mind towards me. But I need to pretend not to be suspicious about her to know her true form.”

★★★★★★★★★★★★

“Amaka, you’re here?”
“Yes, I am oh. I was just sitting here thinking about my life,” Amaka replied.
“Don’t worry, everything is going to be okay if only you believe,” Chioma said.
“Yes, I believe.”
“That’s good.”

“Chioma, I’m sorry for not wearing that P***t then for you to see. I’ll wear it once it’s after five days. I promise,” Amaka said.

Chioma replied, “But I would have loved you to wear it today or tomorrow. There’s nothing inside, I don’t even know why you’re scared.”

“But why do you insist I should wear it now? Can’t you wait till after five days? I believe you aren’t traveling; we are all here together. I can wear it anytime for you to see,” Amaka said.

“She sounds suspicious,” Chioma whispered in her heart.

“Come on, I’m not insisting. I’m just eager to see how it looks on my friend. Or is it a crime?”
“No oh, I’m just teasing you to hear what you’ll say. But don’t worry, I’ll wear it tomorrow for you to see since that will make you happy,” Amaka said, smiling.

“Really, you’re going to wear it tomorrow?” Chioma asked, her face brightening with a small smile — but not too much to be suspected.

But Amaka had already noticed something from that small smile.

Just know that Amaka is a smart girl; she’s only being foolish because of the too much trust she has for Chioma, her friend.

“Why the sudden happy face? It seems she has something to achieve from me wearing that P***t. It’s alright, I’ve decided to play along and see where this leads,” Amaka said in her mind.

“Sure now, I’ll do as I promised. You know I value our friendship so much. In as much as you can do anything to make me happy, just know I can do the same,” Amaka said smiling.

But Chioma was also suspicious of Amaka, though she tried to believe her at that moment.

“It’s alright, my friend. Just know I love you.”
“I love you too, my friend,” they both said as they hugged each other.

They sat and gisted for some minutes before everyone went their separate ways.

“Hmm, I don’t believe what Amaka just said. Why do I feel like she’s lying? I feel like she has begun to suspect me. No, no — Amaka has to wear that P***t.

She said she’ll wear it tomorrow, but what if she doesn’t? After tomorrow, I only have one day left. No, I can’t lose this. I can’t lose my half a million and my heart’s desire. I need to act fast before it’s too late.

I can’t wait for her to wear it tomorrow; no time. I need to act on time,” Chioma said, pacing in the bathroom.

Amaka, on the other hand, was still in the backyard.
“I said it, she looks suspicious. That smile means something; it’s too calm to be real. I need to act fast. I need to see Chioma for who she really is.

I don’t want to believe anyone — I want to see it myself. And when I find out that Chioma is not who I thought she was all this while, that will be the end of our friendship,” Amaka said to herself as she stood up and went inside.

★★★★★★★★★★★★

Later that day

“Good afternoon ma.”
“Afternoon, my daughter. What do you want to buy?”
“Give me a strong sleeping medicine that can make one sleep for fifteen hours,” Chioma said.

“Ah, my daughter, that’s too much!” The pharmacy woman screamed. “Well, I don’t have that, but there’s one I can give you. If you take an overdose, it will last for ten hours.”
“Okay ma, give me,” Chioma said.

The woman went inside and returned with a small waterproof.
“Take, it’s 500 Naira,” the woman said as she handed the sleeping pill to Chioma.
“Ma, please add another 500 Naira worth to it,” Chioma said.

The woman returned inside and added another. “Take, but please don’t use everything at once oh. If it’s you taking it, because if you take all, something bad might happen to you.”
“Thank you, I heard you,” Chioma said as she gave the woman ₦1000 and left.

“Nice one. I’ll add all the pills inside her evening meal. Then I’ll wake up and wear her the P***t myself when everyone is sleeping. Since she doesn’t want to do it herself, I’ll do it for her.

Giving her an overdose of these sleeping pills and wearing her that Pt — there’s no way she’s going to escape these two traps. If the drug doesn’t ki*** her, the P**t will surely do.

Amaka, I said you must die. I have promised the Queen, and I must fulfill my promise,” Chioma said, laughing to herself on her way back home.

“Good afternoon, my King,” Amaka greeted, bending her head in respect.
“ afternoon, Amaka. How are you doing?”
“I’m fine, my King.”
“How is our baby doing? Oh sorry, I mean how is your baby doing?” King Azuka asked.
“It’s fine, my King,” Amaka replied sharply.

But she was surprised at King Azuka’s first response before he changed his words.

“My King, I want to go and buy medicine. I’m feeling headache, so I said let me take permission from you before going.”
“It’s alright, you can go,” King Azuka replied.

“Why did I say our baby? Am I okay? God of our ancestors, when will you bless me with my own child? Look at me calling another man’s child our baby. But sometimes I feel like I’m responsible. No, I can’t be responsible — I didn’t do anything with her. Besides, I can’t even father a child,” King Azuka said to himself, confused.

“Why did he say our? Or is he trying to annoy me this afternoon? You’ve already denied it, so I don’t care. By God’s grace, I’ll give birth to my baby and take care of him or her without you. Nonsense King,” Amaka said angrily as she walked out of the palace.
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

Later that evening

After Chioma had successfully added the sleeping pills to Amaka’s food, a few minutes later, Amaka began to feel dizzy.

“Chioma, I’m feeling sleepy. I want to go inside and sleep,” she said as she staggered up and went inside.
“Yes, it’s working. I can’t wait for midnight to achieve my dream,” Chioma said, laughing.

In the middle of the night, as everyone was sleeping — including Amaka, who had just consumed an overdose of sleeping pills — Chioma quietly stood up, opened Amaka’s bag, and took the missing P***t.

She walked quietly to Amaka, who lay there like a lifeless body.

“Your time has come. Once again, rest in peace, Amaka, my beautiful friend,” Chioma said as she raised Amaka’s two legs, inserted them inside the P***t, and started drawing it up.

My daughter, I am here again to protect you.
But this is my last opportunity. I won’t be able to see you again or save you. But God will be with you forever. You have a lot of enemies — the ones you know and the ones you don’t know.

Only your wisdom will guide you to live your life, and I pray that God should add mine and your father’s years for you. I pray long life for you and my unborn grandchildren, Amaka’s mother said.

“Mama, what are you talking about? And where is Daddy? I miss both of you. I want to go with you.”

“You can’t go with me, it’s not yet your time. Your daddy is not permitted to come with me, his chances have expired. I came to save you because you were given an overdose of sleeping pills, and you will die within some hours if you don’t wake up.

You and I don’t have much time — you need to wake up and see one of your enemies,” Amaka’s mother said.

“Mama, what are you saying? I am standing here with you, I’m not sleeping, so why are you saying I should wake up?” Amaka asked, surprised and unaware she was dreaming.

“Amaka, you were given sleeping pills by someone you trusted. She did that to achieve her wicked desire. So, you have to go now before it’s too late. No time for questions. I command you to answer me when I call you. Amaka, yes mama! Amaka, yes mama! Amaka, yes mama! I command you to wake up now!”

Chioma was busy raising Amaka’s legs turn by turn. She almost finished wearing Amaka the P***t when suddenly Amaka shook and woke up. Chioma tried to run, but Amaka quickly grabbed her hand.

She screamed, “You guys should wake up oh! I don’t know who is trying to r***p me!” Amaka shouted, unaware that it was Chioma. In less than a second, the girls woke out of fear and quickly turned on the light.

Chioma was still struggling to free herself from Amaka, but she couldn’t.

Amaka was surprised to see Chioma and the missing P***t in between her legs. “Jesus Christ!” Amaka shouted in surprise.
All the girls were shocked too, though they hadn’t yet understood what was happening.

Amaka stood up and quickly removed the Pt, then tied her wrapper well.
“Amaka, I’m sorry! It isn’t what you’re thinking,” Chioma stammered.
Amaka stepped closer to her. “Chioma, how dare you try to wear me the p***t I told you I don’t want to wear?” Amaka asked, rage in her eyes.

The other maidens sat watching, still unable to comprehend what was happening.
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t in my right sen—” Before Chioma could complete the statement, a heavy slap landed on her face. The sound of the slap was so loud that it could wake a dead person.

All the other girls were shocked, but they didn’t say anything — they only murmured among themselves.
Chioma used her hand to cover the spot where the slap landed before trying to speak again.
“Amaka, you sla—” She couldn’t finish before another heavier slap landed on her face. She screamed and held that spot tight.

“Shut up, Chioma! Shut that evil mouth of yours, or I’ll use slap to design your face. How dare you? So this is who you are? I thought you were a good friend!”

Queen Ijeoma and the King heard the shout from the guest room. They ran out to check what was happening.

“Amaka, how dare you slap me twice?” Chioma said angrily.
“I will slap you over and over again if you don’t keep quiet! I should have believed my grandma when she warned me about you. But I doubted her, thinking you had true love for me. I never knew you wanted me dead!” Amaka said angrily.

“I’m sorry, Amaka, please forgive me, it’s the devil’s work.”
“Shut your dirty mouth up!” Amaka shouted as she gave Chioma another hot slap. “You’re calling the devil, whereas you are the devil yourself! These three slaps are for the three times you betrayed me!”

Chioma stood there shaking, speechless.
“First, you convinced me to abort my pregnancy — that nearly took my life. Secondly, you tried to force me to eat food you picked from the floor, and I’m sure you poisoned it. Thirdly, you wanted to wear me a P***t I told you I don’t want to wear!

You have to confess what you put inside this p**t before I forgive you,” Amaka said.
“I didn’t put anything into the p**t” Chioma said.

Queen Ijeoma and the King walked in.
“What is happening here?” the King asked.
“My King, I caught Chioma wearing me a P***t while I was sleeping,” Amaka said.

“P***t?” King Azuka asked in surprise.
“Yes, my King.”

King Azuka turned to Chioma. “Is what Amaka said true?”
But before Chioma could speak, Queen Ijeoma interrupted, “My King, this girl is lying! You should know her well enough to know she’s a liar. If she could lie against you, who else do you think she can’t lie against? How can she say Chioma is wearing her P***t?” Queen Ijeoma said, trying to convince the King that Amaka was lying.

“I’m not lying, my Queen. Look at Chioma standing there, you can ask her,” Amaka said.
“Shut up, you liar! Who doesn’t know you lie in this place? After lying against the King, now it’s Chioma’s turn?” Queen Ijeoma shouted, shutting Amaka up.

Amaka stood speechless.
“My King, you have to believe me, I’m not lying. You can ask these girls, they will tell you the truth.”
“Amaka, the Queen said you’re lying, so you are. Just keep quiet and go back to sleep,” King Azuka said, walking out while Queen Ijeoma followed.

All the girls were shocked but couldn’t defend Amaka. Those who wanted to tell the truth were too scared of Queen Ijeoma.

A few minutes after the Queen and King left, Amaka turned to Chioma, who stood there like a dead wood.
“Chioma, what just happened? Why couldn’t you tell the Queen I’m not lying? Why couldn’t you say the truth in front of everyone? Why is the Queen defending you?” Amaka asked angrily.

Chioma said nothing.
“So, you won’t say anything, right? Okay,” Amaka said as she went back to her sleeping position and picked the p**t from the floor.
“Chioma, take and wear it, if you know there’s no reason why you wanted me to wear it,” Amaka said as she stretched the p**t toward Chioma.

The girls still sat up, watching the drama going on between Amaka and Chioma.

“I said take and wear it if you know you were just trying to wear it for me for nothing,” Amaka said.
“Please Amaka, stop. I can’t wear it — it’s not good to wear another woman’s P***t,” Chioma said.

“You must wear it by peace or by pieces!” Amaka shouted as she dashed forward and gave Chioma another hot slap. This time, Chioma tried to retaliate. She raised her hand to slap Amaka back, but Amaka blocked her hand and pushed her backward. Then, they both erupted into a fight.

First, Chioma overpowered Amaka, trying to collect the Pt from her. Amaka struggled and later overpowered Chioma.
“You must wear this Pt today!” Amaka said as she pushed the Pt into Chioma’s mouth. Chioma tried to scream, but Amaka gave her a heavy puh on her jaw. It stopped her from screaming loudly.

No one came to separate them — the four girls stood watching. Amaka beat Chioma mercilessly and finally left her after ten minutes of fighting.
“I won’t kill you with my hands, but for trying to harm me, karma will surely come for you,” Amaka said as she returned to her sleeping position.

She sat there thinking about everything that just happened. If anyone told her that a day like this would come, she would never have believed it.

Chioma managed to stand up and staggered back to her sleeping position.

Inside the King’s chamber

“Ah, this is a serious case. What else should I do? She caught Chioma — it’ll be difficult to fulfill it again. I need to think of another option. This whole thing is no longer working. I really need to think of another plan,” Queen Ijeoma murmured to herself as she lay beside King Azuka.

At dawn

Chioma’s face was swollen. Some maids looked at her and laughed, while others said “sorry.”

Inside Queen Ijeoma’s room

“My Queen, I don’t know what to do next. Look at my face! Could you believe that witch with pregnancy beat me like a child? I can’t believe Amaka overpowered me,” Chioma said, wiping her tears.
“When did she do this to you?” Queen Ijeoma asked, surprised.
1
“After you and the King left.”
“Why didn’t you shout? We would have come back to rescue you,” Queen Ijeoma said.
“My Queen, you won’t believe Amaka used that Pt to cover my mouth from shouting.”
“She did what?”
“She used the Pt to cover my mouth,” Chioma said, crying.

“So sorry for that. But how did she wake up? Didn’t you add the sleeping pills to her food?”
“I did, my Queen. I sneaked in and added it to her food as soon as she left to get drinking water. And I know she ate the food.”

“I’m still surprised how she woke. I hope nothing will happen to me because I’m scared — she really pushed the P***t in my mouth.”
“Nothing will happen to you, it’s okay, Chioma.

We need to find a way because she has to pay for everything she did to you. Or are you going to give up so soon?” Queen Ijeoma asked.
“No, my Queen, but I’m confused now. I need to think. Just give me time,” Chioma said.
“Yes, we really need to think and come up with something positive,” Queen Ijeoma replied.

“What should I do now? I’m confused. I don’t really know what to do. The charm will expire tomorrow, and I believe there’s no way to even use it again. And I don’t think going to the witch woman is an option anymore, because last time she said there are only two ways she knows — option A and B — and now none of them worked.

Assuming she isn’t living in the palace now, I would have sent Thg to ki*l her, but I can’t do that now. People might suspect me. What should I do?” Queen Ijeoma said, pacing around the room.

In the palace garden

Amaka sat on the ground crying.
“God, what kind of life is this? So no one can be trusted? Upon all the love, support, and encouragement Chioma showed me — so it was all fake? Ahh, human beings aren’t worth trusting. I should have believed Grandma earlier.

So Chioma of all people gave me an overdose of sleeping pills just to wear me that P***t?

No, no, I still can’t believe what happened last night. God, if this is a dream, please wake me up. So Chioma really wanted to wear me that P***t so I would die like the Madam said?

But wait oh, I still don’t understand what I did to her — where I offended her that she can’t forgive me, to the extent of this kind of hatred.

I said it yesterday that if I played along and found out Chioma isn’t who she claimed to be, that would be the end of our friendship. And now the end is here. I can’t continue befriending someone who wants me dead.

Who knows if she’s the one who took the P***t somewhere? But there’s still something I’m not getting right. What could be her reason? We’ve never even quarreled before.

My mind was telling me something yesterday, as if I knew this was going to happen. That’s why I went and bought another P***t of the same color as the missing one. I replaced it with the old one. I just did that so I could wear it today as I promised her yesterday — before she acted otherwise.

She must be foolish thinking I’d purposely wear that particular Pt. But I never knew Chioma could go to the extent of drugging me just to wear me the Pt.

Mama, thank you for coming to wake me up — to see the true color of the kind of Jezebel I called a friend. Thank you for not letting me die in my sleep.

Now the whole thing begins to make sense. I was drugged. That’s why I couldn’t wake when she was wearing that P***t on me. Something told me this was going to happen, that’s why I replaced it and threw away the missing one.

Chioma, now I know who you are. I will surely live with you just the way you want it. I know you are my enemy, not my friend.

My dear, don’t ever trust anyone. No one is your friend. Trust a friend at your own risk.”

That night, Chioma sneaked to Queen Ijeoma’s room.
“My Queen, this is what you asked me to bring — the hair and the p....t,” Chioma said, stretching it to Queen Ijeoma.

“Wow, good girl, you have really done a great job. Do you want half payment first, or you want me to pay you completely at once after you have fulfilled the second part of the job?” Queen Ijeoma asked.

“No, my Queen, I don’t want half payment. I will collect the full payment after the second job is done,” Chioma replied.

“It’s all right, you have done well. Don’t worry, I will let you know when the second job is ready,” Queen Ijeoma said.

“It’s all right, my Queen. I will be leaving now,” Chioma said.

“Wait, take this 10,000 naira. Use it to buy anything you like. It’s not part of the payment, I just gave you this out of happiness and to appreciate your work,” Queen Ijeoma said.

“Thank you, my Queen, I really appreciate it,” Chioma replied as she collected the 10,000 naira from the Queen before going outside.

“Thank God I have gotten the material I need. By tomorrow, I’ll need to travel down to the witch’s side to do the needful because there is not much time. Finally, my wish is coming to pass,” Ijeoma said to herself, smiling happily.

The next morning

Queen Ijeoma went to see the witch in the neighbouring village where she normally goes.

“Good afternoon, great one,” Queen Ijeoma greeted as she entered the hut.

“You’re welcome, my daughter. What brought you here again?”

“I came back again because my mission is yet to be accomplished. I’m sorry, great one, I was unable to use the first charm you gave me. The girl I gave the task to messed it up, and I was unable to fulfill my desire,” Queen Ijeoma said. “That is why I came back again.”

“So what do you want me to do for you again this time around?” the witch asked.

“Great one, I brought the material for option B,” Queen Ijeoma said, “which is the hair and the p....t.”

“Is that what you want?” the witch asked.

“Yes, great one,” Ijeoma replied sharply.

“It’s all right, I will do it for you since you came with the material. Bring it,” the witch requested.

“This is it,” Queen Ijeoma said as she handed the material to the witch.

“You have done well, my daughter. Now return in the next 3 days, then it will be ready,” the witch said.

“Thank you, great one. I will start going now,” Queen Ijeoma said as she left happily.

That afternoon, Amaka scattered her clothes, looking for something.

“Amaka, why did you scatter your clothes like this?” Chioma asked as she walked in.

“Nothing jor, I am just looking for one of my favorite p....ts,” Amaka said, still focused on her search.

“Maybe you misplaced it or it might have mistakenly mixed up with these girls’ clothes. You will see it,” Chioma said as she bent down beside Amaka, pretending to help her look for it.

“I wish she doesn’t find out that one of her p....ts is missing. Anyway, I believe she will think she mixed it up with other clothes,” Chioma thought in her mind as they both continued looking for it.

Queen Ijeoma returned home happily. She sat on her bed.
“Soon she will die and my mind will become at rest again. God will forgive me because I have to do what I have to do,” Ijeoma said to herself as she sipped her cup of palm wine happily.

★★★★★★★★★★
The next morning

Amaka was having a headache and went out to buy a drug. On her way, she came across a madman.

“Give me 100 naira to buy pure water,” the madman commanded as if he had given Amaka money to keep for him.

“I don’t have 100 naira,” Amaka replied.

“You must give me money,” the madman said as he continued following Amaka behind.

“I don’t even have change. Let me just give him this 500 naira since I don’t have change,” Amaka whispered to herself as she brought out 500 naira and gave the madman. The man collected it sharply.

“You have a good heart, young girl,” the madman said, “but you have plenty of enemies.”

“Please can you go and leave me alone? I have given you money, what else do you want?” Amaka asked, not minding what he said.

“I won’t go until you listen to what I’m saying,” the madman said, dancing.

“You don’t know me and you don’t know anything about me, so what do you want to say?” Amaka asked as she stopped walking angrily.

“I don’t know you, but I know something about you.”

“So what do you know about me?” Amaka asked angrily.

“One of your p....ts is missing.”

Hearing that made Amaka shocked.

“What did you just say?” Amaka asked, looking at the madman surprisingly.

“I said one of your p....ts is missing.”

“Jesus!” Amaka shouted. “How did you know?”

“How I know is not the question. But listen to what I’m saying — you will see it again,” the madman said.

“Of course, I know I will see it again. I might have misplaced it with some clothes,” Amaka said.

“Yes, you will see it, but don’t wear it when you see it. Leave it for 5 days, then you can wear it after,” the madman said, laughing.

“What do you mean I shouldn’t wear my p....t when I see it?” Amaka asked, trying to understand.

“Don’t wear it. The p....t didn’t just miss — it was taken to a dark kingdom. But don’t wear it immediately you see it. Leave it for 5 days; after 5 days, you can now wear it. Don’t say I didn’t warn you,” the madman said, laughing and scratching his head.

“Taken by who? Who took it to the dark kingdom?” Amaka asked.

The madman continued laughing as he walked away without another word.

Amaka stood there, surprised.

“These madmen can be funny at times. What did he mean by my p....t has been taken to a dark kingdom? That I shouldn’t wear it till after 5 days? He’s a madman, I don’t believe him. But how did he know I was looking for my p....t? Maybe it’s just a coincidence,” Amaka said as she continued walking.

When Amaka got home, she told Chioma her experience with the madman on her way to the chemist.

“Amaka, can you imagine what happened as I was going to get this drug?”

“What happened?” Chioma asked, curious.

“I met a madman, and he demanded for money. After I gave him, he said one of my favorite p....ts is missing.”

Chioma looked at Amaka surprisingly.

“You’re surprised, right? I was surprised too at that moment. I don’t know how he knew my p....t is missing. He even said I shouldn’t wear it whenever I see it again — that I should wait 5 days before I wear it again,” Amaka said.

“Hahaha,” Chioma laughed, “that madman might be a witch sent to deceive you. If not, how does he know your p....t is missing?”

“I was more surprised, but maybe it’s just a coincidence because I don’t believe what he said,” Amaka replied.

★★★★★★★★★★

The following day, which is the day the witch woman asked Queen Ijeoma to come back, Queen Ijeoma had made up her mind to go early.

“I need to go very early because I don’t have much time,” Ijeoma said to herself as she quickly went into the bathroom to bathe before leaving.

That afternoon, the three elders arrived at Ezemou shrine.

“Ezemou, we greet you,” the three of them said, bowing their heads.

“You are all welcome, wise men of Uzuola. What do I owe this invited visit?” Ezemou asked.

“Great one, it is said that a frog doesn’t run across the road in the afternoon for nothing — either something is after it or it is after something. Wise one, everything is not okay in the palace. We visited the king some days ago — King Azuka is no longer the king we know. And rumors have it that a poor orphan said she is pregnant for him,” Elder Okeke narrated everything that happened when they visited the king.

“Wise one, that was how the king reacted. We came so you can tell us what you see about it,” Elder Okeke said.

After some incantations, the dibiah spoke.

“I didn’t see anything. The gods didn’t reveal anything to me,” Ezemou said.

“So what can we do now, that the gods are silent?” Elder Okoro asked.

After another incantation, Ezemou spoke again. “Nothing for now. The gods are silent,” Ezemou said again.

The elders whispered among themselves before leaving.

On their way, Elder Okeke said, “It seems something is wrong. If not, why would the gods be silent?”

“You’re right. If the whole Ezemou couldn’t speak, that means something is really not alright, and we need to pray for the king and the kingdom,” Elder Ikeje said.

“You are right, my brother,” they agreed and went in different directions.

After Queen Ijeoma finished bathing, she quickly dressed up, ready to visit the neighbouring village.

After hours of walking, she finally arrived.

“Good morning, great one,” Queen Ijeoma greeted, sitting down on the local seat.

“Welcome back, my daughter.”

“Thank you, great one. You asked me to come today; that’s why I am here,” Ijeoma said.

The witch went inside a secret room in the hut and brought out a small black waterproof.

“Take, my daughter,” the witch said, stretching it to her.

“Thank you, great one,” Queen Ijeoma said as she collected it with both hands.

“Now listen,” the witch said. “Like I said before, you have to make sure she wears this p....t. She will slump and die a few minutes after she wears it. But you only have 3 days to do that. If you fail to make her wear it within these 3 days, the power in it will expire after the next 3 days.”

“Thank you, great one, I heard everything you said. I will do as you said,” Queen Ijeoma said with happiness written all over her face.

Of course, she brought some money and gave it to the witch, as usual, before leaving.

The time I have been waiting for is finally here. I just pray it works out successfully. I need to rush home fast so that I will instruct Chioma on what to do. She has to start today, Queen Ijeoma said to herself as she continued her journey home.

After hours of walking, Queen Ijeoma arrived at the palace. She quickly sent for Chioma, and in no time, Chioma arrived.

“My Queen, you sent for me,” Chioma said, sitting down.
“Yes, I did. I want to tell you that your second job is ready. Are you ready to do it?” Queen Ijeoma asked.
“Yes, my Queen. I’m ready to do it anytime and any day. Just tell me what to do this time around,” Chioma replied.
“Come closer,” Queen Ijeoma requested. Chioma drew closer.

“Now listen. Take this,” Queen Ijeoma said, handing her a small parcel. Chioma stretched her hand forward and collected it. “That is the p***t. Here is your job. You have to convince Amaka to wear it within three days starting from today. I don’t know how you will do it, but you must do anything possible to make sure she wears it before the three days run out, because the charm inside will expire on the fourth day,” Queen Ijeoma said.

“My Queen, I’m sorry, permit me to ask a question.”
“Go on, ask anything,” Queen Ijeoma replied.
“Please, which type of charm is inside the pt? Like, what will happen if she wears it?” Chioma asked curiously.
“If you want to know, then I will tell you. It is now a deadly pt. Once you succeed in making Amaka wear it, she will die after a few minutes. Not just her—once this p***t touches anyone’s p****t part, the person will die,” Queen Ijeoma said. “I want her to die because I hate her.”

“It’s alright, my Queen. I guess the task will be hard, but I will do my best to achieve it,” Chioma said.

Queen Ijeoma was surprised that Chioma still agreed to do it despite knowing that Amaka would die.
“Chioma, I expected you to say no after I told you the outcome of it. I thought Amaka was your friend?” Queen Ijeoma asked, surprised.
“My Queen, I’ve already told you before that no friendship is more important than money. Money is the best friend you can have. I know Amaka is my friend, but I can’t lose half a million because of her. She isn’t worth it. Let her die, let me collect my money,” Chioma said, smiling.

“It’s alright. I like your decision. Like I said, you have seventy-two hours to get the job done. I don’t know how you’ll do it, but you must do it,” Queen Ijeoma said.

“My Queen, I’ll do it. Like I said, it’s going to be a little hard because Amaka told me that a madman warned her about her missing p***t. So I think it might be difficult because of the madman’s words. But nevertheless, nothing is too big for me, Chioma. I’ll do my best to convince her and make sure she wears it,” Chioma said.

“Thank you, my girl. I’ll be hoping on you,” Queen Ijeoma said.

Chioma hid the pt in her clothes before going outside.
“She thinks I see Amaka as a friend? She doesn’t know I see her as an enemy. She doesn’t know we want the same thing. Rest in peace in advance, Amaka, because you only have a few hours to live. She must wear this pt. I will do anything possible to make sure she wears it. Amaka, you have to die so that I will get my happiness back,” Chioma said to herself, smiling devilishly.

A few minutes later, as Amaka was working outside, Chioma secretly went inside and hid the p***t inside Amaka’s bag. Then she went out to meet Amaka.

“Don’t tell me you are still washing these clothes, Amaka?”
“Yes, the clothes are too dirty, that’s why I haven’t finished,” Amaka replied.
“That reminds me, Amaka, have you seen your pt you were looking for yesterday?”
“No, I haven’t. I have checked all my bags and scattered my clothes. It is nowhere to be found,” Amaka said, still focusing on her washing.
“Okay, I just said let me ask if you have seen it,” Chioma said.
“No, I haven’t seen it.”
“But did you check today? Have you looked for it today again?”
“No.”
“Okay, maybe you should check your bag later, you might see it. I heard that if you use your left hand to keep something, it might take time to see it unless you give it something,” Chioma said.
“You are right, I heard that too. Maybe I’ll check later because I believe nobody took my pt.”
“Sure, now what will the person use it for? Absolutely nothing. So just make sure you check later,” Chioma said.
“Sure, I will.”
“Let me help you with your washing.”
“No now, you just finished working and you still want to come and help me without resting?”
“Come on, you are my friend. How will I leave my friend working and go to rest? Let’s finish it together, then we can go and rest together as well.”
“This is why I said you are the best friend in the world. I’m happy to have you as a friend,” Amaka said, smiling.
“Stop flattering me, jor,” Chioma said as they both laughed.

With all this fake love Chioma showed Amaka, how could Amaka ever suspect her as a bad friend?

Inside the king’s chamber:

“My King, I got a message that my mom is not feeling well, so I need to be around. I said let me inform you before leaving,” Queen Ngozi said.
“It’s alright. Take care of yourself and make sure you send my regards to her,” King Azuka said.
“Thank you, my King. I will get ready and leave soon,” Queen Ngozi said before leaving for her room.

“Amaka, I want to go and see my mom. I think I might not return anytime soon. Take care of yourself. If anyone is maltreating you, report to the king. Take this 50k, use it to take care of yourself before I return,” Queen Ngozi said.

Amaka fell to her knees, thanking her.
“My Queen, you are too kind. This money you gave me is more than my three months’ salary. May God reward you,” Amaka said.
“It’s okay, Amaka. Just take care of yourself,” Queen Ngozi said before leaving.

“Ah, this Queen is too good oh. She gave me 5k not too long ago, and now she gave me 50k. My God will bless her. Should I tell Chioma about this money, or should I hide it? I think I will tell her, so she won’t think I’m hiding things from her,” Amaka said to herself as she walked back inside the palace.

Should Amaka tell Chioma?
What do you have to say about the junior Queen? She truly has a good heart.

No, I won’t tell her. I will hide it first; maybe I will tell her later.

“Amaka, why are you smiling?” Chioma noticed the smile on Amaka’s face as she walked in.
“Nothing oh, I was just happy.”
“Why are you happy? Or have you seen your pants?”
“No oh, that’s not the reason why I’m smiling. I’m just smiling because I’m happy,” Amaka lied.

“I’m coming, I want to go and get water,” Chioma said before going out.
“This is an opportunity, let me quickly hide this money,” Amaka said.

As she opened the zip of her bag to put the money inside, she was surprised to see her pants at the top of the bag.

She ignored it and hid the money first.
“So this pant was here, and I’ve been looking for it since. Now I believe what Chioma said.”

Suddenly, the door cracked open, and Chioma walked in.
“This is the pant I was looking for. I was surprised to see it at the top of my bag when I opened it,” Amaka said as she raised it to show Chioma.

“Oh, is this the pant you’re talking about?” Chioma asked innocently.
“Yes, it’s the one I’ve been looking for.”
“I thought you said it’s one of your favorite pants?”
“Yes,” Amaka replied sharply.
“But I haven’t seen you wear it before, and you said it’s your favorite one,” Chioma said.

“Oh, you haven’t seen me wear it?”
“Yes, I haven’t. I’ve seen you wear the others, but not this particular one. So, I would like you to wear it and let me see how it looks on you.”

“You want to see how it looks on me?” Amaka asked.
“Yes, I would like to see how beautiful it is on your waist,” Chioma said, smiling.

Amaka took off the one she was wearing before and widened the missing one, ready to wear it.
“Thank God, she’s finally about to wear it. I can’t wait,” Chioma whispered in her mind.

Just as Amaka was about to put her first leg inside the P***t, something told her to stop. Amaka dropped the P***t on top of the bag.
“Let me go and bathe first before wearing it,” Amaka said.
“It’s alright, I’ll be here,” Chioma replied.

“That was too close. She almost wore it. God, please do this favor for me. Let her wear it when she comes out of the bathroom. I can’t wait to tell the Queen that she has worn it,” Chioma said to herself, smiling.

Inside Queen Ijeoma’s chamber

“Ngozi has traveled. I would have said it’s the perfect time to punish Amaka, but unfortunately, she’ll be dead soon. I can’t wait. Let’s see who will save her now.

I trust that Chioma girl; she’s very smart. If she fulfills the job, I will surprise her by adding extra money to her payment. I believe she will. My body is hot, I can’t wait to hear the news.”

A few minutes later, Amaka walked in from the bathroom.
“Chioma, you’re still here?”
“Yes, I’m here waiting for you,” Chioma replied.
“Oh, I thought you must have gone outside.”
“I told you I’ll be waiting for you to wear the P***t so I can see.”
“But why do you want me to wear the P***t?”

“Is it a crime to ask my friend to wear something so I can see how beautiful it is on her? Don’t you know I admire your beautiful face and body sometimes?”

“No now, come on, I’m just pulling your leg. Besides, you’re more beautiful than me,” Amaka said. They both laughed.

Chioma helped Amaka apply cream on her back. As Amaka finished applying the cream, she grabbed the missing pant and inserted her two legs into it.

Just as she dragged the pant to her knees, suddenly her body vibrated, and she felt goosebumps all over. Something whispered in her head,
“Amaka, don’t wear the P***t. If you wear it, you will die.”

At first, Amaka ignored the voice and pushed the pant up further. By now, the P***t had passed her knees. The voice came a second time,
“Don’t wear it.”
Amaka paused as if she was listening to something.

Chioma, on the other hand, was watching her and praying silently.
“Amaka, what is it? What are you waiting for? Or did you forget you are wearing P***t? Dress up fast before anybody walks in,” Chioma said.
“Yes, let me dress up fast,” she replied.

Amaka was about to wear it completely when the voice came again — this time it hit her harder in the head.
“Amaka, don’t wear it!” the voice said louder in her head.

“Aaeesh! My head!” Amaka shouted and quickly pulled off the P***t

Chioma was surprised at how Amaka removed it.
“Amaka, what happened? Why did you remove your P***t?”
“I don’t know. I just had a bad feeling and decided to remove it.

I remember the madman told me that I shouldn’t wear the P***t till after five days, and now when I wanted to wear it, something shouted in my head. I feel something evil is in the P***t. I’ll wait till after five days before I wear it,” Amaka said.

“Hahaha,” Chioma laughed pretentiously. “Don’t tell me you’re afraid to wear your P***t because of what a common madman said? You can’t be serious. You need to wear it; let me see the beauty.”

“Chioma, you don’t understand. It’s not just because of what the madman said. Can’t you see I wanted to wear it just now? But something whispered to me to stop — three times! That was why I pulled it off. So I’m not wearing it anymore till after five days. Don’t worry, after five days I’ll wear it so you can see,” Amaka said.

Chioma was boiling inside but tried her best to hide it.
“So, you’re now choosing a madman’s word over my desire?”
“Chioma, I didn’t say I’m not going to wear it. Just wait till after a few days. I’ll surely wear it and show you. Or do you want to wear it and see how it looks on you?” Amaka asked.
“God forbid that I wear that P***t.”
“Why?”
“Because it’s not good to wear someone else’s P***t,” Chioma said.
“Hahaha, it’s not good? Or are you scared too because I refused to wear it?” Amaka asked.
“No, I’m not scared. Why should I be scared of an ordinary pant?” They both laughed.

Inside Queen Ijeoma’s chamber

“My Queen, there’s a problem. Amaka doesn’t want to wear the P***t. She said something whispered to her when she was trying to wear it. So now she concluded she’ll wait till after five days, just as the madman said. I tried my best to convince her, but she refused.

Would you believe she even asked me to wear the P***t if I’m not scared?” Chioma told the Queen what happened.

“What are we going to do now? Because we don’t have time. She has to wear it before five days. Chioma, you need to do something — just do anything to make her wear it,” Queen Ijeoma said, panicking.

“My Queen, I’m doing my best. I don’t know how to convince her further. If I pressure her too much, she’ll suspect me. I’m confused now on what to do. But anyhow it is, I’ll do my best to make sure I get the job done,” Chioma said.
“Please, just do something, do anything. I’m ready to even increase your payment,” Queen Ijeoma said.
“I will, my Queen,” Chioma replied.

Amaka sat on the mat, thinking of how the voice hit her hard on the head when she almost wore the P***t.

“What kind of voice is that? The third one hit me very hard — I even got a headache instantly. Who is speaking in my head? Chioma doesn’t understand what happened to me, and she keeps insisting I should wear it.

But wait oh, why is Chioma so concerned about me wearing the P***t? The look in her eyes was suspicious. Or does she want something bad to happen to me?

No, no — maybe I’m overthinking. Chioma is not that kind of person. But everything still looks suspicious. I need to keep a close eye on her; I’m beginning to suspect her.

She supported me to abort the pregnancy using a bad pill that almost killed me. She almost forced me to eat the food she packed from the floor — I don’t even know why.

Now she’s trying to convince me to wear the missing P***t, even after I told her a voice whispered to me not to wear it.

Grandma said she doesn’t like her because she’s a bad friend, but I don’t see Chioma as a bad friend. Anyway, I’ve decided to start acting differently. I really need to know who Chioma is, because all these things are becoming too suspicious,” Amaka said to herself.
