The Early Life of Prophet Muhammad
PBUH

In the quiet valleys of Makkah, where mountains watched over the Ka‘bah and caravans traced dusty paths, a boy named Muhammad grew up under the wide Arabian sky. He was born into the tribe of Quraysh, yet his early life was marked by loss. His father, Abdullah, died before he was born, and his mother, Aminah, passed away when he was only six. Orphaned so young, Muhammad learned patience and resilience before he learned to read the signs of the desert.

As a child, he was cared for first by his grandfather, Abdul Muttalib, a respected leader of Makkah. The old man loved him deeply and would seat him near the Ka‘bah, sensing something special in the quiet boy. After Abdul Muttalib’s death, Muhammad came under the protection of his uncle Abu Talib, who treated him with kindness despite having little wealth of his own.

Muhammad spent much of his childhood tending sheep in the hills around Makkah. The solitude taught him reflection, humility, and care for living beings. Unlike many children of his time, he avoided quarrels and idle games. People noticed his honesty and gentle nature, even in his youth. He listened more than he spoke, and when he did speak, his words were thoughtful and true.

Growing up in a city filled with idols and tribal rivalries, Muhammad’s heart remained pure. The hardships he faced shaped his compassion for the weak and the poor. Little did the people of Makkah know that this orphaned shepherd would one day become a mercy to the world, guided by God to change the course of history.
