How higher salt intake damages the kidney

The kidneys filter more than 120 quarts of blood every day. They flush toxins and unwanted fluids from the cells of the body. Consuming too much salt in the diet can make it harder for the kidney to remove the fluid, which then starts to build up in our body.

1. Increases the blood pressure
When there is higher intake of salt, it increases the blood pressure that stiffens and narrows the blood vessels causing damage to the filters of the kidney.

2. Sodium imbalance
When there is higher salt intake, sodium excretion increases, causing water retention in the body. When there is water retention in the body, swelling and hypertension occur.

3. Increases Urinary Protein
As high salt consumption increases the blood pressure damage occurs in the kidney. This damage causes the Protein to leak in the urine rather than be absorbed into our body.

4. Develop Kidney Stones
Excessive salt intake causes the body to lose calcium in the urine. When calcium leakage occurs, it starts to deposit in our kidneys, causing kidney stones.
