Difference between Pharmacy and Pharmacology:
Pharmacy:
A professional medical course that trains students to prepare, mix, and dispense drugs to patients.
Pharmacists work in hospitals, pharmacies, and drug manufacturing companies.
Graduates are called Pharmacists and must register with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN).
Duration: 5 years.
Pharmacology:
A pure science course that studies how drugs work in the body — their effects, uses, and side effects.
Pharmacologists work mostly in research labs, universities, and drug development companies.
Graduates are called Pharmacologists (not licensed to sell or prescribe drugs).
Duration: 4 years.
In Summary:
Pharmacy focuses on making and giving drugs to patients.
Pharmacology focuses on studying how drugs work inside the body.
