Youths in Kano Destroy President Tinubu's 2027 Re-election Billboard
A group of angry youths in Kano has destroyed President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election billboard. Similar incidents have occurred in other locations, including Yobe State.
The youths' actions may be linked to growing discontent among Nigerians, who accuse President Tinubu of neglecting the country's economic and social challenges. Some northerners specifically criticized Tinubu's handling of regional issues.
The Presidency previously disclaimed unauthorized 2027 campaign billboards for Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, warning against premature campaigns violating the Electoral Act.
According to eyewitnesses, the youths stated, "We won't support Tinubu in Kano in 2027; his regime is worse than Buhari's." They emphasized Kano's significant voting power, saying, "This is Kano, and we have plenty of votes here; no state has more votes than us since democracy began in 1999. We'll send Tinubu back to Lagos in the 2027 presidential election."
