Chapter 8...

After thirty minutes of labor, Sefa put to bed, a bouncing baby girl. It was after she delivered that the women in her compound heard the shocking news of her husband's death. But, they were all scared of opening up for her. They thought of what will become of her if she gets to know the truth. So they all quietly left, one by one to avoid her suspicion, exception of the midwife who stayed to take care of her and her new born bab. Providing for them the necessary things she needed for her grooming.

After few hours of Sefa's delivery, she waited to see her lovely husband, whom she believed will be eager to see their new born baby, but there was no sign of him. She became worried about his whereabout. She asked the midwife if anyone had gone to the farm to inform her husband. But she tried convincing her that, "he will not be allowed to enter since she was in labor, so they allowed him to do his work, so he would return and be surprise to see his new born baby".
She was not convinced with her answer but she managed to understand. She thought of what made them to conclude, they will leave the news as a surprise for her husband." Maybe, it could be for the best". She kept thinking of how happy her husband will be seeing his flesh and blood when sleep took her off.

Immediately she slept, the midwife rushed home to do some house chores before she wakes up. Her mind was not at rest. She already felt the pains Sefa will pass through if she gets to know that her one and only husband is no more. She thought of telling her the truth, but it was best to keep it a secret. She hoped the elders will break the news to her at a time she won't be much hurt. But how long were they going to keep hiding the truth?

Later in the evening, Sefa woke up hoping her husband will be sitting beside her. But, she could not feel his presence. She stretched her hand, rolling it at the edges of the wooden bed, but she never felt anything. The only people occupying the bed was just her and her baby. She staggered out of the hut to see if he was outside, but, he was nowhere to be found. Just then, the midwife entered the compound. With the worries on Sefa's face, she knew she was to think of something to tell her before she asks of him. She stood behind her imagining what to say when she turned to her. Immediately, she asked,
"Aya, where's my husband?"

"Oooo... You mean Lancelot?
He. He.. he... Came but you were sleeping.
As you can see, he helped you to do some house chores. He even helped you to fetch a pot of water before he left to Saul's compound.
You know it's not right for a husband to sleep in the same hut with his wife who have just delivered ". The midwife stammered. Meanwhile the other women where the ones that did the house chores.

Sefa was not convinced this time with the midwife's answer. Why would her husband leave her to stay alone with her newly born baby throughout the night. Even if it was not right for them to sleep in the same hut. Why won't he use the other hut in the compound. Must it be Saul's hut?

Many questions kept running through her mind. She was not able to sleep throughout. It hurts her as her husband will abandon her in that condition. Is that how he will continue till their baby comes of age? Why would he betray the love and affection they had on each other? She felt like the undiminished love was about to diminish but she never thought of the opposite...

Chapter 5

"Don't you think we should tell your uncle about it before he discovers himself?"

"Tell him about what?" Lancelot asked

"About what the midwife said...
He has been acting strange this passed months.
I think he may be worried.
But if he gets to know the truth, his heart may be at ease". Sefa said hoping, Saul will be relief he gets to hear the news they were about to break to him.

"If he is too worried then, why won't he take a wife for himself?" Lancelot jokingly asked

" Just imagine how he will react if I tell him, what his son just said...

"Even the gods know you won't say such a thing" Lancelot interrupted and laughed.

They were in the middle of their dialogue when a boy ran into the compound. He kept panting when he ran to them. The two (Lancelot and Sefa) kept starring at him, giving him a moment to relax his heart.

"What's after you boy" Lancelot asked after the boy seemed to be a little bit relief.

"Your... Your uncle..." The boy said pointing to the direction he came from.

"What happened to my uncle" Lancelot asked with eagerness.

"He asked me to run nonstop to your compound and tell you that, your presence is needed in his com...

" Is that why you want to choke yourself to death?
Go and meet your mother. I will be with him shortly"

Lancelot became worried. He thought of what might have happen to his uncle that made him sent for him that hot afternoon. Without wasting much time, he went out to meet him, while Sefa went into the kitchen to prepare lunch for him before his returns.

When Lancelot got to Saul's compound, he was confuse. He thought people will be gathered waiting for him. But he was fascinated to find his uncle sitting alone on a wooden chair, and beside him was a spare chair. He (Lancelot) believed the seat was for him. He quickly went and sat beside him with ease.

Saul knew very well how to get to Lancelot. He took charge of him right from the time his parents died until he came of age. And as a result of his closeness to him, he knew what to say that will get to the bottom of his heart. He then started his conversation by telling Lancelot how he and his elder brother (Lancelot's father) had a very good relationship before his death and how he don't want anything to come in between their relationship even after his death. But Lancelot said,

"Why are you telling me this now uncle.
You told me this stories countless times.
As a matter of fact, I love you with my life.
I can do anything to make you happy.
You refused to take in a wife after my parents death because you were scared she might end up maltreating me.
No one can sacrifice that much for a child people assume not to be his.
You never maltreated me nor treated me in a way that could hurt my feelings.
I'm proud of you father... Infact, you are just as a human god to me"

Saul was touched by his nephew's words. He could feel the droplets of tears on his cheek but he managed to control himself. He then calmly said,

"I'm proud of you son. But I'm a little bit worried because, it has been more than a year since you got married to Sefa, but there's nothing to show for it. Not even a miscarriage.
Are you sure I can still exact the patience to wait until the day I hold my grandchild?"

Lancelot smiled after listening to his uncle for a while,
" You're right uncle. But the truth is, the gods are the giver of children.
You once told me not to leave this woman for few faults. Though there's nothing wrong with her character. The love I have for her over shadow everything, and it makes me not to perceive any fault from her.
But.. " Lancelot paused and starred at Saul for a while,
" She is pregnant...

"Whaat..." Saul exclaimed.
"You should have told me earlier"

"I wanted to break the news to you only if I visit and finds out that everything is ok. But I never knew, you invited me for the same reason.

Saul became very happy after he got to know the truth. They continued their conversation for a while. After which Lancelot departed to meet his lovely wife, while Saul went to Elyan's compound.

Immediately he got to Elyan's compound, his first statement was,
"How did it go...
" I'm not here to tell you how I managed to deceive him.
All I want you to know is, whatever my nephew has done to you that you are planning to destroy his marriage, I want you to end it now.
That boy is just like a son to me, and I'm willing to do anything to protect him" Saul interrupted.

" You are been deceived by his words again.
Just think of the benefit, if this plan works. You can have more than you ever had...
Since the first plan fails, I have another better plan...

"Then count me out"

There you go again...
Think about it and tell me what you've decided.
But don't forget what will happen if the truth is been reviewed. Even your so called Lancelot will hate you for it, talk more of his disgusting wife, Sefa" Elyan threatened.

" But you were the one that deceived me" Saul said with regret.
"Who do you think will believe that?...
