Alafarika for Studies and Consultancy is pleased to announce the official launch of KUDI: African Journal of Economic Development, an international, multilingual, peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to advancing rigorous research on economic development and structural transformation in Africa.

KUDI is established as part of Alafarika’s broader commitment to strengthening the production of Africa-centred knowledge and contributing to academic and policy debates with clarity, independence, and methodological rigour. The journal provides a platform for research that directly engages with the realities, challenges, and opportunities shaping African economies.

KUDI is now accepting full manuscript submissions for its first issue (Volume 1, Issue 1) in the following areas:
- Structural transformation and sectoral change
- Industrial development and productive capacity
- Urbanization and spatial economic dynamics
- Rural transformation and agricultural development
- Infrastructure, transport, and energy systems
- Trade, regional integration, and global value chains
- Governance, institutions, and development policy
- Digitalization, sustainability, and emerging development pathways

The Future of Africa’s Education: Between Adoption of Indigenous Languages and Indigenized Colonial Tongues.

“As of 2024, 31 African countries have adopted bilingual or multilingual education policies, which is an important response to the local and global calls for the integration of indigenous languages in educational programmes, according to the Global Education Monitoring Report. Though these policies weren’t implemented at full scale, 23 countries shifted to the second language before grade 5, while 80% of the policies indicate that local languages should later be kept as subjects.”
