SEVERAL TERRORISTS KILLED AS TROOPS FOIL ATTACKS ON LOGOMANI FOB AND ZIRA VILLAGE IN BORNO

Local sources have confirmed that ISWAP terrorists secretly buried several of their fighters killed during failed attacks on the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Logomani and Zira Village in Borno State on 7 and 8 July 2026, following fierce engagements with troops of Operation HADIN KAI.

According to the sources, several ISWAP fighters, including a senior commander identified as Munzir Ba Alai, were killed during the encounters, while seven other terrorists sustained serious injuries after troops successfully repelled the assaults with superior firepower.

The terrorists reportedly launched coordinated attacks in an attempt to overrun the military position at Logomani and raid Zira Village. However, they were met with a determined response from troops, who held their ground and inflicted significant casualties on the attackers. The surviving insurgents were forced to retreat, abandoning their objective, while the bodies of the slain fighters were reportedly buried by the group shortly after the failed operations.

The latest setback further reflects the increasing operational pressure being exerted on Boko Haram and ISWAP by Operation HADIN KAI. In recent months, sustained offensive operations have continued to degrade the terrorists’ fighting capability through the neutralisation of numerous fighters, destruction of insurgent camps and equipment, and the disruption of logistics networks following the arrest of suspected suppliers and collaborators across the North East.

LAGOS POLICE ARREST 135 SUSPECTED CULTISTS, RECOVER FI****MS IN STATEWIDE CRACKDOWN

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested 135 suspected cultists and recovered fi****ms, dangerous weapons and other incriminating items during coordinated raids across criminal hideouts and identified black spots in the state.

The operation, carried out by Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Tactical Commanders and the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), was conducted on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, PSC, MNIPS. The intelligence-led raids were aimed at preventing cult-related violence and criminal activities associated with the annual 7/7 cult celebration and initiation.

During the operation, police recovered 26 fi****ms, 16 dangerous weapons—including cutlasses, battle axes, daggers and knives—cult insignia, assorted charms, 11 bottles of various alcoholic beverages, substances suspected to be Indian h**p and other illicit drugs, as well as six mobile phones.

According to the Command, the operation followed credible intelligence indicating that rival cult groups were planning coordinated attacks and other criminal activities across parts of Lagos State.

The Police Command stated that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the criminal gangs. All suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
