I see and admire the kind of amazing things Bello El-Rufai does for Kaduna North.
I wish other political office holders can emulate him.
I remember random incidents where someone would have a fight with a military officer and soldiers would storm the area, put their foot down and make sure the message is clearly visible even to the blind- you touch one of us, be ready to face all of us!
It doesn’t even matter if the officer was wrong.
I remember one particular incident that happened at Television Garage many years ago. This soldier was drinking at one of those open bars and had an argument with someone. I can’t remember the exact story but the soldier was at fault. Next thing, they started to fight and it was very crazy! By the time soldiers appeared there ehn, even people wey no dey there when the fight happen, collect!
That is the military we know! You do not touch one of their own!
But recently, i am not seeing that anger. We saw a video where an officer was shot by tërrorists and all i can remember was that it ended with an argument online with some of us believing it was Ai.
A Rtd. major-general was kïdnapped and dïed in the hands of his adductors and according to the news, he dïed of natural causes even though he was in captivity for two weeks.
I do not honestly believe that our military men are not angry about these happenings but like i said, i am not seeing it. I understand that it is not the prerogative of the military to put out statements with plenty talks. They are usually more focused on doing the job than talking and explaining themselves.
But that “touch one of us and face all of us” anger that makes us know not to even think about daring the military seems to be lacking. These bandits are daring them and it’s beginning to look as if they are getting away with it. I don’t understand how some will be caught and reintegrated into the same communities they wrecked havoc on.
At the end sha, i know that our military will definitely win this battle and good will prevail over evil.
Amen.
