Earlier this week Nigeria hosted the 62nd Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State & Government. I expressed gratitude for the support extended to me as Regional Champion on . The successes we recorded could not have happened without strong collaboration.

We worked closely to develop regional mechanisms that mitigated the effects of the COVID-19. The commitment shown by Member-States yielded very positive results as West Africa emerged as one of the regions with the least mortality rate, not only on the continent, but globally.

We also broke ground on the new ECOWAS Headquarters Building, in Abuja, for which we are grateful to the Government of the People’s Republic of China, for financial & technical contribution. The Building will house the ECOWAS Commission, ECOWAS Court of Justice and the Parliament.
