Food Emergency 101: When Fish Bone Says “Not Today!”

There are food emergencies… and then there’s that one when a fish bone gets stuck in your throat. You’ll drink water like a fish, swallow eba like you’re training for competition, even lick salt out of desperation—but peace will not come. 😂

As kids, we were told to swallow heavy morsel of eba or eat more drink water; somehow it feel like the fish bone stay there and be laughing at your effort

I remember when my dad swallowed a full bone; yes, a bone, a big one and somehow he didn’t feel it till it was halfway stuck. How his tongue missed it, only heaven knows. Long story short: it was removed, but that bone became a family trophy. Displayed in our parlour like medal 🥇. And trust African parents, every visitor heard the story; like it just happened yesterday.

PS. Licking salt do work but you won't still feel comfortable

Kitchen Hacks Alert!

When coating peanuts, I always seem to have leftover flour and liquid mixture. Instead of wasting it, I get creative; I add a bit more flour, yeast, or baking powder and whip up new snacks. The shapes vary - some are flat like akara, others are ring-shaped or bun-like. 🤔 The best part? They're all delicious! 😋

I can eat it raw like that too, it taste great too, but I have heard people say it's bad though.
