APC Party explains Governorship and State house of Assembly results announcement process in Plateau

The All Progressives Congress, APC party has said that the results announcement for Governorship and State Assembly direct primaries in Plateau state will be declared at the ward and local government collation centers.

Chairman of the Governorship and State house of Assembly elections, Hon. Fidelis Mnyim made this known during a press briefing at the party's Secretariat in Jos.

He noted that after announcements at the local government, the results will thereafter be submitted to his committee for transmission to the party headquarters in Abuja.

Hon. Fidelis expressed optimism that the Governorship primaries will go on smoothly just like the other exercises held across the state in previous days.

APC NASS Primaries: Lalong, Mwadkwon, Barji, Beni Lar, Gagdi Among Winners in Plateau

Former Simon Bako Lalong, alongside Simon Mwadkwon, David Bitrus Barji, Beni Lar and Musa Bagos, have emerged winners in the National Assembly primaries of All Progressives Congress conducted across Plateau State.

Lalong secured the party’s ticket for Plateau South Senatorial District after polling the highest number of votes in the exercise.

For Plateau North, Mwadkwon, a former Minority Leader, won the APC ticket with a wide margin in the senatorial primaries.

In Plateau Central, businessman Barji defeated incumbent Senator Diket Plang and other contenders to emerge the party’s candidate.

In the House of Representatives primaries, Beni Lar won the ticket for Langtang North/Langtang South Federal Constituency, while Bagos clinched victory in Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency.

Also declared winner was Yusuf Gagdi, who secured the APC ticket for Pankshin/Kanam/Kanke Federal Constituency.

Other successful aspirants include Joshya Dashe for Qua’an Pan/Mikang/Shendam Federal Constituency, Idris Maje Wase for Wase Federal Constituency, and Abubakar Sadiq Plaza, who won the Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency primaries.

Announcing the results in Jos, Stella Okotete, Chairman of the APC Plateau State Primaries Electoral Committee, described the exercise as peaceful, transparent and credible.

She commended APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, party leaders and stakeholders for their support, and praised members for ensuring a peaceful process.

Okotete said the primaries were conducted in line with the party’s constitution and guidelines.

THREE ASPIRANTS DISQUALIFIED FROM APC SENATORIAL PRIMARY

Three aspirants have been disqualified from participating in the senatorial primary election of the All Progressives Congress APC in Jos Plateau State.

The affected aspirants are Ang Yaya Zi San, Napoleon Binkap Bah and Usman Ephraim Gar.

Party officials announced that the three aspirants were not cleared for the senatorial primary, although details surrounding the decision were not immediately disclosed.

The development comes ahead of the party primaries as political activities continue to gather momentum across Plateau State.

SENATOR LALONG REWARDS CHAMPIONS OF KOES PAN & DEMBE WITH CARS; VOWS TO SUSTAIN CULTURAL HERITAGE

Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District, Simon Bako Lalong, has presented car gifts to the first place winners of the local wrestling competition (Kokuwa) organised during the Koes Pan 2025 festival in Qua’an-Pan Local Government Area, as well as the local boxing competition (Dembe) organised in Shendam in December last year.

Speaking during the presentation, Senator Lalong recalled that he made the promise as part of his determination to revive local sporting events that have over the years served as platforms for unity, youth engagement and preservation of the rich cultural heritage of the people.

He said traditional sporting activities such as wrestling and Dembe are deeply rooted in the history and identity of the people and should be sustained and promoted for future generations.

Senator Lalong noted that beyond entertainment, such competitions help youths to remain focused, disciplined and productive while fostering peaceful coexistence among communities across the Senatorial District.

Having largely sponsored the events, the Senator said he remains committed to strengthening and expanding the competitions in order to inspire more young people to participate in constructive activities that promote cultural pride and social harmony.

President of the Pan Youths Movement, Saba Eric Dabilong, described the gesture by Senator Lalong as a shining example of purposeful and people-oriented representation that directly impacts the lives of youths and the grassroots.

Wnile praying for his political victory, he said the Senator has set a commendable standard for political leadership by supporting the revival of the Koes Pan festival and rewarding winners with generous gifts that will encourage wider participation and sustain the cultural festival.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, winner of the wrestling competition, Bitrus Ernest, expressed profound appreciation to Senator Lalong for fulfilling his promise.
He described the car gift as a dream come true and prayed for God’s continued blessings upon the Senator. He also urged youths across Plateau South to continue supporting Senator Lalong in his efforts to provide quality representation and opportunities for young people in the district.

The University of Jos has emerged the biggest winner at the 6th edition of the JAMB National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit (NATAP-M) Awards, receiving a massive ₦500 million for exceptional performance in Nigeria’s admission system.

Court jails ex-Power minister Mamman 75 years for fraud
Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court has sentenced former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, to 75 years’ imprisonment in absentia over a 33.8 billion Naira money laundering and fraud case instituted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC

The court convicted Mamman on all 12 counts filed against him by the anti-graft agency, holding that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

Justice Omotosho ordered that the prison terms would run consecutively and not concurrently, bringing the total jail term to 75 years.

The judge sentenced the former minister to seven years’ imprisonment each on counts 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 without an option of fine.

He also sentenced him to three years’ imprisonment on count four with an option of a 10 million fine and two years’ imprisonment on count five without an option of fine.
