Headquarters in Mangu Stepping Up to Address Pressing Issues: Chief of Army Staff’s Visit and Operation HAKORINN DSMISA IV Launched

Mangu, Plateau State – In response to the recent surge in security challenges, the Stepup Headquarters in Mangu has emerged as a crucial tactical ground for operations.

Designed to tackle the prevailing issues faced by Plateau State, the headquarters is now under the spotlight as the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, gears up for an operational visit. His mission includes inspecting the facility, launching Operation HAKORINN DSMISA IV, and engaging in discussions with key stakeholders.

The situation in Mangu Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State has escalated to the point where Governor Caleb Mutfwang felt compelled to impose a 24-hour curfew. This decision was taken following the tragic attacks on July 9th, which resulted in the loss of numerous lives and properties. The ongoing crisis and killings between locals and armed militias have raised urgent concerns, prompting the demand for intensified security operations within the region.

The impending visit of Major General Taoreed Lagbaja to the Operation Safe Haven Set Up Headquarters is seen as a significant step towards addressing the security challenges head-on. The high-ranking military official’s presence is expected to bolster the efforts of Operation Safe Haven and bring much-needed relief to the affected communities.

Speaking about the gravity of the situation, the National President of Mwaghavul Development Association (MDA), Joseph Gwankat, expressed deep concern over the attacks’ aftermath. According to Gwankat, the assaults have resulted in the tragic loss of approximately 125 lives, leaving over 20,000 people displaced.
