Today marks the World Health Day and also marks the 75th year of the World Health Organization (WHO) making its impact story in the areas of Public and Global Health.

We are grateful for the progresses World Health Organization (WHO) has made in promoting in the last 75 years.

As we mark this year's edition of the World Health Day, it is important to remind ourselves to join in promoting in access to healthcare for everyone everywhere.

Health is a a fundamental human right which must be enjoyed without discrimination on the basis of race, socioeconomic status, geopolitical location etc.

It is thus imperative that we ensure that such important rights to humanity is not infringed upon but promoted to build sustainable healthcare systems that will be affordable for all.

The World Cancer Day 2023 shall be marked on 4 February, and we shall be raising health literacy awareness on cancer this week.

Cancer is the abnormal growth of some body cells which have the capacity to spread massively from one part of the body to another in an uncontrollable fashion; thus causing severe damage to the body's organs and tissues.

This disease is the 2nd leading cause of death globally. Unfortunately, majority (70%) of the deaths from this disease occurs in low and middle income countries such as Sub-Saharan Africa due to the lack of access to qualitative cancer care. It is therefore important that the cancer care gap be closed to achieve global health equity.
