Admission Pathway.

The basic knowledge for this concept is any process available for a secondary school leaver like yourself to gain admission into a higher institution of learning. Various pathways exist depending on the institution but here are the most basic and general pathways.

UTME + Ordinary Level Result + Post UTME = University Admission

Almost every senior secondary school three student knows this. Don't be surprised, the majority of them have it engraved subconsciously that they have to perform well in WAEC, UTME, and Post UTME to be gain university admission.

What happens if rejected on the first attempt?

They simply try again and hope they are selected.

UTME + ND + DE = University admission

Often time a candidate can miss the first path and opt for any available offer in a polytechnic, spend 2 years in the institution (National Diploma 1 {ND1} and National Diploma 2 {ND2}. After which such a candidate reapplies into a university through Direct entry this time and joins other colleagues in the second year.

Candidates could sometimes proceed to have a higher national diploma after then proceed to a university. They often commence from the third year in any program relevant to that studied at the polytechnic.

Failed UTME + Advanced Program + DE = University admission.

Another scenario on this could be a failed UTME attempt leading to enrolling for an advanced level program like IJMB, JUPEP, and Cambridge that takes at most one year depending on the program after which a candidate can further apply for University admission and join colleagues in the second year.

Understanding the admission pathways goes a long way in assisting students to decide on the faster alternative to consider once their initial pathways do not go as planned.

This age group as we all know comprises teenagers trying to transition from their secondary education to university education. This implies that present tertiary systems would be faced with congestion.

More people trying to access limited university openings in the country through the recognized Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

For the past half a decade, performance has been low. However, the focus was more on the 2020 result because of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite the above, students who harnessed into our IJMB program are currently enrolled in their desired institutions studying their desired course.

This was possible because they harness our backend entry program - the IJMB program. Where they were taught extensively for 9 months and afterward wrote a unifying examination.
