As of Q1 2024, sesame topped Nigeria's agricultural exports, recording 123% year-on-year growth. Nigeria is a top-two global exporter of the commodity with an annual harvest of 450,000 to over 500,000 tonnes from 2024–2025, driven by high export demand from China, Japan, and Turkey respectively.
