🎉 Another Milestone Achieved: Commissioning of Mayobelwa 330/132/33kV Substation 🎊
NETAP TR3 Lot 1– World Bank Funded Project
We are pleased to announce the successful commissioning of the Mayobelwa 330/132/33kV Substation under the NETAP TR3 Lot 1 Project on 15th January’2026, a World Bank–funded initiative awarded by TCN-PMU, Nigeria.
The Mayobelwa Substation scope includes:
⚡ 2 ×150MVA Power Transformers
⚡ 1 ×60MVA Power Transformer
⚡ 1 ×75MVAr Reactor
⚡ 330kV Transmission Line In & Line Out, including associated 330kV transmission line towers
This milestone significantly strengthens the Northern Region’s transmission network, improving system reliability, increasing capacity, and enhancing voltage stability across Mayobelwa, Yola, and surrounding areas.
The commissioning activities comprised comprehensive pre-commissioning tests, protection relay coordination, and performance verification. All parameters met the required operational standards, and the transformers was successfully energized and synchronized to the grid without incident.
Executed in strict compliance with industry standards and safety protocols, this project was made possible through close collaboration between TCN, local implementation teams, OEM technical experts, and other stakeholders.
