1️⃣ Be Popular for a Set of Dresses
If possible, focus on a niche. Yes, you sew for everyone, but try to prioritise a particular market or group of people. Maybe corporate outfits, youth fashion, traditional wear, wedding dresses, children’s clothes, male/female attire, etc. So much that whenever anyone around wants to sow that particular dress or has someone that wants to, you automatically come to their mind. And of course, give Ready-To-Wear a chance. Don’t rely only on custom orders. Produce a few pieces in standard sizes. Introduce them to people around you, display them in your store, and most importantly, promote and sell them online.

2️⃣ Brand Your Business
You should register your Business Name, create a logo, and design packaging items like branded delivery bags, cloth tags, and boxes. We can help you with this Captworld Prints. In this time and age, branding makes your work look premium and professional. Also have a catalog of your work (digital or physical) to always show potential clients.

3️⃣ Have a Solid Social Media Presence
Be on Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp Business/Status, and TikTok. No excuse. Most importantly, register with Google Business and create a Google portfolio. Post product pictures, videos, customer reviews, and “Behind-the-Scenes” content consistently. Follow the pages of your competitors and seniors in the field to keep learning and getting insights from them.

4️⃣ Always Market Your Business
Marketing is key, and it must be daily. There’s no business without sales. Sales often come from marketing and advertisement. So, keep promoting and circulating your work. Promote through word of mouth and every other means. Always ask your satisfied customers to refer you to their friends, colleagues, and family. Never be too shy or nonchalant about marketing. As entrepreneurs, we are all marketers.

5️⃣ Offer Excellent Customer Service 24/7 and Deliver on Time
Always treat your customers like kings and queens. They are your bosses. Be polite at all times and handle complaints professionally. Whenever possible, offer discounts or small gifts to your customers. Be honest about delivery dates. Timely delivery builds trust and brings referrals. If you become known for disappointing your customers, like some of your colleagues, you won’t go far in the business. Just so you know.

6️⃣ Always Learn Trends
Now, let me remind you this: Fashion evolves fast. So, you have to stay updated on new styles, fabrics, and sewing techniques or you will be left behind. That is the truth. You must keep learning. Invest in good Tools and Machines. It saves time, improves finishing, and makes you stand out. Use quality fabrics.

7️⃣ Price Your Work Wisely and Manage Your Finances
Learn costing from a senior colleague if you have to. This is key in your field. Don’t underprice or overprice. Know your costs and add reasonable profit. Also, separate your business money from personal money, and learn how to track expenses and profits.

8️⃣ Lastly, Pray and Stay Disciplined
Be hardworking, patient, and consistent. Success doesn’t happen overnight. I wish you all the best.
