MASSIVE CROWD IN CALABAR URGES GOVERNOR OTU TO RUN AGAIN IN 2027
In a historic show of unity, more than 30,000 people yesterday gathered in Calabar, the Cross River State Capital City to call on Governor Bassey Otu and President Bola Tinubu to seek a second term in office in 2027.
The large crowd included young people, women, traditional rulers, political leaders, and residents from all parts of Cross River State. The event was organised by the Cross River South Consultative Forum and brought together groups from across the Southern Senatorial District and beyond.
The gathering served as a way to thank the Governor and to show strong, united support for his continued leadership. Many speakers highlighted how much progress the state has seen under his watch, pointing to improvements in roads, schools, farming, youth programmes, and security.
This is the first time in the state’s history that such a large number of people have come out to back a Governor for a second term even before he has said he’ll run again.
Prominent personalities who were present to charge the gathering include, the State chairman, Alphonsus Ogar Eba esq, JP, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon Emmanuel Ironbark, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, Rt Hon Joseph Bassey, Hon Bassey Akiba, Rt Hon Mike Etaba amongst others.
Supporters carried banners with messages like “Good Work Deserves Continuity” and “People First, Again!”, praising Governor Otu’s calm and inclusive approach to leadership.
Many also expressed appreciation for how the power rotation system in the state has been respected, with the southern part currently holding the governorship.
With this level of public support, the call for Governor Otu to return in 2027 has never been stronger.

CROSS RIVER APC CHAIRMAN, EBA JOINS OTHERS TO WELCOME GOVERNOR UMO ENO TO APC IN UYO
Alphonsus Ogar Eba esq, JP, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, joined other APC state chairmen on Saturday to welcome the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, into the party. The event was hosted by the Akwa Ibom APC Chairman, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo.
The welcoming ceremony was held at the impressive Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State.
Several key figures attended the event, including the APC National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, members of the party’s National Working Committee, the Cross River State Governor, Apostle Senator Prince Bassey Otu, Chairman of Governor's Forum, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State as well as other governors, senior party leaders, and many supporters.
The venue of the event was filled to capacity as it witnessed an unprecedented crowd of supporters from across the state.
Speaking at the event, Alphonsus Eba, who also serves as Secretary of the Forum of APC Chairmen, praised Governor Umo Eno for taking a bold step by joining the APC.
He noted that the political momentum that began in Cross River State is now spreading across the South-South region of the country.
