TOPIC: DISCIPLINE; THE BELIEVER'S GUIDE

TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 9:24- 27, PHILIPPIANS 3:12- 15
MEMORY VERSE: I CORINTHIANS 9:27a (NLT)

INTRODUCTION:
Discipline is defined as "a way of behaving that shows a willingness to obey rules or orders".
In other words, discipline is meant to draw us away from what will cause us harm and lead us into the likeness of Jesus. It is both a physical and spiritual maturing process.

Our God is a God of discipline. He is like a coach who practices, drills, instructs and corrects his players so that they can be in top shape for any game or race.

GUIDELINES TO HELP US LIVE A LIFE OF DISCIPLINE
1. BE RESPONSIBLE: This is a state of taking full ownership of, and being answerable to all our conducts and obligations.
2. BE ACCOUNTABLE: Is being able justify your actions or decisions.
3. SET USEFUL AND PROFITABLE BOUNDARIES: Boundaries can be set in three (3) distinct areas of our lives namely: Activities, People and Places. Useful boundaries help
you establish clear and defined limits. It keeps you in check of people you relate with.

4. MAXIMISE YOUR TIME: Use your time wisely.
5. GIVE UP EXCUSES (Rom. 2:1)
6. BE COMMITTED (Prov. 12:27)
7. BLOCK OUT DISTRACTIONS (Heb. 12:lb) Focus on your task and take it to
completion.

CONCLUSION
To reach your goals and actualize your dreams, discipline can never be ruled out. Your relationship
with the holy spirit will help you live a life of discipline.
