ASUP STRIKE UPDATE
APRIL 2ND 2022
This is to inform Nigerian polytechnic students that the Academic staff Union of polytechnic (ASUP) and the Senior staff association of Nigeria (SSANIP), have not commence any strike yet.
ASUP And SSANIP on March 31st issue one month ultimatum to Nigeria government to address their last agreement signed in 2021.
The one month ultimatum issued to the federal government takes effect from April 1st 2022 till May 1st 2022.
ASUP says the reason they are embarking on strike May 2022 is as a result of failure of the federal government to implement their agreement, that is, Non release of 15bn revitalisation fund, Non payment of the polytechnic lecturers Arrears salary among others.
The Union(ASUP) appealed to Nigerians students and parents to prevail on federal government to do needful to avoid shutting down of polytechnic.
At the last NEC meeting, the Union issued one month ultimatum to federal government to address their demand to avoid nationwide strike.
INTERPRETATION: This means that ASUP has not commence any strike yet, they are only sending warning to federal government of possibly resuming strike action a year after their agreement is yet to be implemented.
When will ASUP strike 2022 commence? There is no official date yet for the Nationwide strike, however the strike may likely commence May 11th 2022, that is, after their next NEC meeting which will hold early May. The next NEC meeting would determine whether to or not to go on strike.
However before the next NEC meeting, POLYTV believe that the federal government would have done the needful.
Meanwhile the one month ultimatum given to federal government expires May 1st 2022.
In conclusion, Nothing like Strike for now, lectures, registration and other Academic activities continues on Monday April 4th until further hearings from federal government and ASUP.
We won't hesitate to Inform you if there is any other latest information from Federal government, ASUP and NAPS regarding the planned strike action.
