TAINTED VIRGINITY
Chapter 8
The sun hung low in the sky, casting a golden glow over the campus as students poured out of their lecture halls, eager to get home. Glory walked alongside her best friend, Solomon, as they made their way home from lectures.
"So, have you decided where you'll be staying for the holidays?" Solomon asked, adjusting his backpack.
Glory sighed, deep in thought. "I'm torn between staying with my uncle here in town or going back to Lagos to see my family."
Solomon nodded. "True. But have you considered the pros and cons? If you stay here, you won’t have to worry about transport stress. Plus, you’ll have some peace and quiet to yourself."
"Peace and quiet?" Glory scoffed. "You clearly don’t know my uncle’s kids. Those children will turn me into their personal babysitter."
Solomon chuckled. "Point taken. But Lagos traffic and all that wahala... do you really want to deal with that?"
Glory rolled her eyes. "Tell me about it. The noise, the traffic, the endless chores. That’s the thing. I don’t. But I miss home. I miss my mum’s food. I miss watching wrestling matches with my dad. Even my annoying sisters and my little nephew.". Besides, i get to work at my aunt's shop and save up money for the next semester"
"That's true sef, you need to give me a baby boy treatment when you get back with plenty money. I am not your heart melt for mouth na" Solomon replied teasing.
"Huh, which yeye baby boy? Better park well," Glory said, laughing along.
"And your sisters? The twins still play football right?."
Glory smiled. "Of course. I’m sure they wont let me rest when i go back. But I miss them. It’s been months."
"Then Lagos it is," Solomon declared. "Besides, you need a break from school stress."
"You're right," Glory agreed. "Lagos, here I come."
Little did she know, this decision would lead her down a path she never expected.
I am Glory Writes
A week later, Glory arrived in Lagos, welcomed by the familiar chaos of her family home. Her father welcomed her with a hug before complaining about how lean she had gotten.
"Dad! i didn't lose that much weight" she called, shaking her head at her father's dramatic reaction.
"Eh? Oh, Glory, see how you are looking like a skeleton in that dress, do you even eat at all?" he exclaimed looking her over multiple times.
"Dad, I just got home, now you’re free to over feed me s much as you want" she teased, dropping her bags.
Her twin sisters walked up to her, non-chalantly trying to hide their excitement at seeing her. Girls will always be girls. Lol!!!
"Glory, did you bring anything for us or is your bag filled with only books?" one of them asked.
"Ah, Glory must have come with plenty things na," the younger one added, trying to peek into her bag.
"Relax! I just got home," Glory said, laughing as she dragged them into a hug.
Her mother walked in from the kitchen, smiling warmly. "My dear, welcome. How was the journey? Come and eat, I made your favorite."
"Ah, finally! Someone who truly cares about me," Glory said playfully, throwing her arms around her mom.
As the night wore on, Glory settled back into the comfort of home, catching up with her family. Everything seemed normal, but she knew what had brought her back wasn’t just family. Deep down, she knew she wanted to see Uche.
It didn’t take long before she and Uche reconnected. He had also returned for the holidays, and their weekend rendezvous resumed as if no time had passed.
Glory found herself falling harder for Uche. He was intelligent, her ideal type. He treated her well and made her feel special. But as much as she wanted something real, Uche never made his intentions clear. He played the perfect gentleman, giving her mixed signals. He shared stories about his escapades in school, and each one stung. Was she just one of his many conquests?
Then, one night after dinner, as they texted, Uche casually sent a message that shattered her illusions: "Glory, what do you think about a th*****me?"
Her heart sank. That was when she knew. He never wanted more; he only wanted to satisfy his desires. She had been fooling herself. That night, she decided to make herself scarce until it was time to return to school.
One evening, while returning from work, Glory had a strange encounter. Lagos bus drivers were known for their antics, and today was no different. Since the driver didn't have change, he paired her with a stranger so they could split the fare.
The man beside her was unremarkable, not the least bit attractive. In fact, he seemed slightly tipsy. He barely spoke as they waited for their change, but when he finally turned to her, he asked, "Can I have your number?"
Glory hesitated. "Why?"
"You seem nice. Just to stay in touch," he replied.
Something about him intrigued her. He wasn’t anything like Uche—there was no charm, no calculated moves. He was just… there. On a whim, she gave him her number.
His name was Ikechukwu. She thought nothing of it at the time, but fate had other plans.

TAINTED VIRGINITY
Chapter 6
As I walked to school, I heard a voice calling out to me. "Excuse me, miss!" I turned around to see who was speaking, and the young man repeated, "Excuse me, miss, are you heading to the school gate?" he asked
I replied, "Yes, I am."
He then asked, "Could you help me get there?"
I was taken aback by his request, wondering why a grown man couldn't find his way to the gate, which was only a five-minute walk from his street. That was when I noticed the cane in his hand, and my heart went out to him. I realized he was blind, and I felt a surge of compassion.
I had never assisted a blind person before, but I was eager to help. I approached him, took his hand, and we began our journey to school. As we walked, I couldn't help but wonder how he managed to study, given that our school didn't provide braille materials. But he seemed to sense my thoughts and reassured me, "Please don't feel sorry for me. I'm not entirely blind. I can see objects when they move, although they appear blurry. I can also distinguish between shapes, but I can't see colors." He went on to explain that he hadn't always been blind, but had gradually lost his sight due to cataracts, and had undergone surgeries to correct them.
We kept walking in silence till we got to the school gate

"Thank you so much for helping me out," Chibuike said, his voice warm and sincere. "I really appreciate it." Can you tell me your name?
"Of course, I'm happy to help anytime," Glory replied. "I'm Glory."
"That's nice of you. Can I please have your number?" I am Chibuike by the way.
Sure why not!!! I took his phone and proceeded to input my phone number.
Where are you headed to? He asked
"I'm on my way to school. I have an early lecture."
I'm still in 100lvl. I'm still trying to figure things out and get used to these early morning lectures."
"I remember those days," Chibuike chuckled. "It gets better, trust me. So, what made you decide to help me out today?"
"I don't know...I just felt bad seeing you struggling, I guess."
"That's very kind of you, Glory. Most people wouldn't have stopped. You have a good heart."
Glory blushed, feeling a sense of pride and purpose.
"Thanks again for your help, Glory," Chibuike said, as he boarded a bus. "Maybe I'll see you around campus?"
"I'd like that," Glory replied, smiling. "Take care."
As she continued on her way to class, Glory couldn't shake off the feeling that she had just met someone special. From that day on, Glory made it a point to check in on Kingsley regularly, helping him with errands and tasks around campus. They would sit and talk for hours, discussing everything from their dreams and aspirations to their fears and challenges. He lived alone too, so it was easy and comfortable for her to come and go as she pleased.
He would offer tips and advice on how she would overcome certain challenges as a fresher, he also went on to treat her with so much care and affection.
As their relationship deepened, Glory noticed that Chibuike had started to develop feelings for her. However, Glory was a self-proclaimed 'playgirl' who never really committed to any relationship. She had a talent for acting sweet and charming, effortlessly making people fall for her, only to withdraw her affections and leave them heartbroken.
Glory was flattered by Chibuike's affection and knew he was going to ask her out and she was right. One day, she was at his place helping him study. During her free time, she came over to help him read out his handouts and record them so he could listen to them later since he couldn't see.
When she was done, she was relaxing on the bed when he suddenly asked her to be his girlfriend.
She was flattered by the question but knew she couldn't date a blind guy, so she found a way to evade the question and remain friends without hurting his feelings. She was determined focus on her academics since it was her first year, she wasn't ready to condone any distractions and she made it clear to him.
She was thankful he didn't persist with the question cause she wasn't sure she would have stood her ground if he had continued asking. She applauded herself and rejoiced inwardly for having kept her resolve to remain focused and leave everything behind her.
Glory quickly made her excuses and left Chibuike's apartment, feeling a mix of emotions she couldn't quite process. She was relieved to be out of the situation, but also felt guilty for leaving him in a moment of distress. As she got home, she couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. It was already evening and her roommate should be back from school by this time as usual. But main door was locked while the verandah door was left ajar and she didn't have her keys since they had to share one. When she went and peered in through the front window, she was met with a shock that made her blood run cold.
