ANAMBRA POLICE ARRAIGNS OWNER AND PUBLISHER OF IGBO TIMES MAGAZINE AND INEWS OVER ALLEGED PUBLICATION OF FALSE AND DEFAMATORY REPORTS AGAINST THE FAMILY OF THE ANAMBRA STATE GOVERNOR
The Anambra State Police Command today 13th July 2026, arraigned Mr Ejike Ofoegbu the alleged owner and publisher of Igbo Times Magazine and iNews before a competent court over allegations bordering on the publication of fabricated, untrue, and defamatory reports against the family of the Governor of Anambra State.
The arraignment followed the Command's receipt of the suspect from the Department of State Services Awka, and the conclusion of Police investigations into a petition alleging the publication of false information capable of causing reputational harm and inciting public disaffection.
To this end, the Suspect has been remanded in a correctional centre in the State. The Command also notes that it will refrain from making further comments, as this may prejudice the ongoing court proceedings.
Furthermore, the Command advises members of the public, media practitioners, and publishers to exercise due diligence in verifying information before publication and to adhere to the ethics of responsible journalism and the provisions of extant laws governing the dissemination of information.

Henry Seriake Dickson raises specific points regarding NDC logo and registration, says current challenges are merely first test of party's resilience
************************
Universal Symbol:
Dickson dismissed claims by the Peoples Movement for Nigeria (PMP) that they owned the victory sign, stating that no political group can solely claim ownership of a peace sign.
No Valid Competing Claim: He pointed out that although the PMP attempted to use the same logo in 2015, they were never registered as a political party by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and did not reapply or participate in the recent 2025/2026 registration exercise.
Dismissal of Court Rulings: He described a Federal High Court ruling in Lokoja that attempted to nullify the NDC's registration over the logo as legally flawed and a "minor distraction". He argued that the court had already exhausted its authority (functus officio) over the matter after previously compelling INEC to register the NDC.
Confidence in the Judiciary: The former governor assured party members that the NDC has assembled a legal team to set aside the nullification and expressed confidence that the judicial system will correct the error.
Focus on 2027: He urged party supporters to remain calm, stating that the current challenges are merely the "first test" of the party's resilience and predicting that the NDC will ultimately be victorious.
