A strange thing happens when a society becomes too obsessed with visibility.

People slowly stop asking:
“Is this meaningful?”

And start asking:
“Will this attract attention?”

That shift changes culture more than people realize.

Because once attention becomes the dominant currency, human behavior begins reorganizing itself around performance. People optimize their personalities for engagement. Conversations become shorter. Opinions become louder. Nuance becomes weaker. Emotional reaction becomes more profitable than thoughtful reflection.

Even intelligence starts changing shape publicly.

Instead of rewarding people who think deeply, many systems now reward people who react quickly. The person who pauses to think carefully often loses visibility to the person who speaks immediately with confidence.

This creates a dangerous environment psychologically.

Because eventually people stop developing private depth and begin developing public personas instead. Identity slowly becomes something performed externally rather than discovered internally.

I think this is one of the hidden reasons many people feel emotionally disconnected today.

A human being can receive attention from thousands of people online and still feel profoundly unseen.

Because attention and understanding are not the same thing.

The internet solved visibility at scale.

It did not solve meaning.

And many people are beginning to realize those are completely different human needs.
