Civicist Rex Emojite Anighoro, is a civic advocate, civil society leader, and governance reformer, who has devoted his career to empowering Nigeria’s citizens and fostering accountable governance. Born on Monday 4th the October, 1976, he holds a Law degree from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma which he attended from 1995–2000 and a certification in Kingian Nonviolence from Emory University, Atlanta in 2010. As a distinguished alumnus of the United States Government’s International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP), he serves as Vice President of the IVLP Alumni Association in Nigeria (IVLPAAN). Additionally, he is an Associate member of the International Dispute Resolution Institute (IDRI) 2013.

Based in Asaba, Delta State, Rex Ekiugbo Anighoro is the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Civic Engagement and Civil Society, a role he has held under two administrations (2016–2023 under Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and currently under His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori). Since 2007, he has been the spokesperson for the Niger Delta Peoples Salvation Front (NDPSF), founded by Amanyanabo Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, championing justice, equity, and self-determination for the Niger Delta. He is a member of the Dr. Allen Onyema, CEO of Airpeace Group, the Foundation for Ethnic Harmony in Nigeria, a foremost Nonviolence, Peace building and Leadership Development Organization, championing Ethnic Harmony and Peaceful Coexistence in Nigeria and beyond.

Civicist Rex Anighoro's transformative contributions include institutionalising the Annual Citizens and Civil Society Day ( every 14th of December since 2016, with eight editions held), a national platform for civic dialogue. His advocacy has safeguarded open civic spaces, advanced climate action, and strengthened citizen-government collaboration through the Open Government Partnership (OGP).

His vision is a Nigeria where citizens’ voices reign supreme, governance is inclusive and works for the citizens. He continues to amplify advocacy, deepen civic education, empower young people, and dismantle systemic inefficiencies. As a vital bridge between the government and the governed, he is committed to co-creating a just, prosperous nation, leveraging his extensive experience and global networks to drive lasting change.

A musical artiste with two albums, he is a public speaker, climate actionist and pan africanist.

He is married to Jemima and they are blessed with three children Jesus, Zellah and Jehu.
