JUDGE RULES THAT DSS HAS POWER TO PROSECUTE CYBERSTALKING
A preliminary objection filed by a defence counsel challenging the prosecution powers of the Department of State Services to prosecute cybercrimes, has been struck out by a federal high court sitting in Yenegoa, Bayelsa state's capital.
This came after the DSS arraigned a teenager before the court on one count charge of cyber-stalking. The teenager who was first charged in October 2021, was accused of circulating the n**e picture of a retired Permanent Secretary on social media after she tried to blackmail the retiree, into paying her N15 million.
The retired permanent secretary now deceased, who is a witness for the DSS following a petition he submitted to DSS had in his testimony told the court that the teenager made a n**e video of him when they had s*x at a hotel in Yenagoa in August 2021.
Ruling on the case after listening to arguments from the prosecution and defence counsels, Justice Isa Dashen said under the Cybercrimes Prevention and Prohibition Act 2015, the DSS is a relevant security Agency and has competence to investigate and prosecute cybercrimes.
He stated;
“The DSS has competently investigated this case and prosecuting counsel for DSS, Victor Uchendu has the powers of prosecution and I dismiss the Notice of Preliminary Objection.
“The case is hereby adjourned until Sept. 28.”

BOKO HARAM KILLS EIGHT YOUTHS IN BORNO
Youths across four communities in Mafa and Jere Local Government Areas of Borno State were on Thursday, June 22, killed by Boko Haram insurgents.
Four of the youths were killed in Tamsu-Ngamdu, two in Baram-Karuwa and one in Shuwari, all in Mafa LGA while one was killed in Muna, Jere LGA.
Sherif Goni, a resident of Tamsu-Ngamdu told newsmen;
“One of the youths, just about 16, who said he was spared by the killers to come and report the story, said those killed all had their hands tied at the back and shot.”
Governor Babagana Zulum who went around condoling the bereaved communities on Friday, June 23, urged security agents to be undeterred by the resurgence of terror activities. He also directed farmers go to the farms by 6 am and close by 5 pm.
He said;
“Government is refining strategies at combating insecurity to facilitate the undertaking of farming and other economic activities.
“Farmers should, however, also augment the government’s efforts and design their respective community strategies for fighting insecurity.”

ANAMBRA YOUTHS RAID BR0THEL ENGAGING UNDER@GE GIRLS IN PR0ST!TUTION.
Youths in Oba in Idemili South Council Area of Anambra State on Friday morning, June 23, stormed a brothel where underaged girls work as s*x workers.
It was gathered that the brothel is run by a woman identified as “Madam Ukwu Venze”.
It was further gathered that the minors numbering over 30 are kept in separate rooms where they wait for fun seekers to arrive to patronize them.
The girls are said to be between the ages of 13 to 18 years.
One of the girls said she is 13 years and hails from Ukpo in Anambra.
Another girl explained that at the end of each day, a certain agreed sum of money is remitted to the madam's desk as commission.
It was also alleged that other criminal activities like child trafficking and drug peddling also take place there.
