Something exciting is coming. 🌟
Girls in Local Action (GILA) is almost here — and it's going to be something special.
Imagine girls in your community not just dreaming of change, but actually making it happen. Listening. Learning. Leading. Right where they live.
Ashake Foundation is bringing GILA to Abuja this May 2026, and we cannot wait to share what these girls are going to do.

In the line of our work at Ashake Foundation—especially through our environmental and livelihood skills programs—we hear many stories. But some stay with us long after the training ends.
Madam Victoria’s story is one of them.
During the course of the Ashake Foundation x Itsk Tolaram training program, her husband became seriously ill. It was a difficult season for her, and understandably, it affected her participation. She had to travel to care for him. Many people would have stopped there.
But she made a decision—to return to Abuja and finish what she started.
And she did just that.
She came back more determined than ever, attending classes consistently to make up for the ones she had missed. Her resilience was quiet but powerful. Her commitment was undeniable.
One moment that touched us deeply at Ashake Foundation was when she sent a small gift as a token of appreciation. She didn’t have to. It was simply an act of gratitude and thoughtfulness. That gesture stayed with us.
Originally, the program design did not include start-up kits for participants. However, when we witnessed her determination—her refusal to give up—we knew we had to support her journey in a practical way.
So, we found a way.
Through the support of the Ashake Foundation x Itsk Tolaram Project, we presented her with a sewing machine to help her begin her income-generating journey and put her newly acquired skills into practice.
Today, we celebrate her strength, her discipline, and her courage to keep going even in the face of personal challenges.
Madam Victoria reminded us that determination can change the direction of a life.
At Ashake Foundation, this is why we do what we do, supporting women with the skills, encouragement, and opportunities they need to rise, even in difficult seasons.
We are proud of her, and we look forward to seeing her thrive. ✨
