“Reward Me or Kill Me”: Distressed Man Protests at APC Secretariat claiming abandonment after selling his house to fund its 2023 election campaigns.

May 1, 2026

A man stormed the All Progressives Congress national secretariat in Abuja on Thursday, carrying a placard that read “Reward me or kill me,” claiming the party abandoned him after he sold his house to fund its 2023 election campaigns.

Wearing an APC-branded shirt, the protester said he could no longer pay his children’s school fees and had left them with the party’s Chief Security Officer out of desperation. “I sold my house because of the debt I seemed to owe APC. Because of the work I worked for APC… at the end of it, no reward,” he said in a viral video.

The man alleged the CSO threatened to shoot him and that nothing would happen. His placard also read: “I’m a party man and not a lunatic. I have lost so much for the party. I am depressed and my health is affected.”

The protest, captured on video, showed him pacing the secretariat entrance as security operatives and onlookers watched. No APC official addressed him during the incident.

"I blame my mother for everything I am going through right now, because right now no man wants to settle down with me, and I don’t know why. All my mates are married with children, I am the only one left. I’ll be 38 in the next 2 months, no child, no husband.

Here’s how it all started. 15 years ago, I travelled to Libya, from Libya to Italy, from Italy to Germany. I started with cleaning work, later I started taking care of old people.

So after I gathered some money, I sent it to my mother to build a house so she and my siblings would be comfortable, because we didn’t have a house.

My mother told me to forget about the house and bring our firstborn over there. I agreed and brought her over. My sister started schooling, and after school, she got a job. So I started saving again and sent money to my mother to buy land, and my mother bought land.

After that, I told her I had seen someone who wanted to marry me. My mother said, why would I be thinking about marriage now? If I marry, who will continue to cater for my siblings?

She said we should finish the house we were building and also help my siblings before thinking of marriage. I started doing two jobs to quickly meet up and finish building the house.

I told her again that I had seen someone who wanted to marry me, and she said, why am I in a hurry to get married? That I am still very young and beautiful, that I haven’t even established her, and I don’t need marriage now.

She also said two of my siblings were still in Nigeria, and didn’t I know that if I marry, the man might not let me do these things again?

I struggled again, collected a loan, and brought my younger brother over. Immediately he got here, the first thing he did was to get married. Even my elder sister, immediately she finished her master’s, she got married and started complaining that she has a child and there is little she can do for them at home.

So I told my mother, you were the one who told me to bring my siblings over here so that when they get here, they can also assist you and the rest of our siblings. But now they have settled down and are married, claiming they have responsibilities and can’t do anything for now. Now I am the only one left unmarried.

I’m 37 now, no husband, no child, and my mother is still telling me that I should look well, that I shouldn’t marry a gr££dy man, that I should marry a man who won’t deny me from doing things for my family. I listened to her.

Now that I am ready to settle down after doing everything they wanted, men are not coming for me again. I don’t know what to do anymore.

When I cr!£d out to my mother, she said if I don’t give birth, it’s not a cr!m£, I can adopt a child, and that marriage is not an achievement..."

- 37-year-old woman blames her mother for years of sacrifice, revealing how family pressure left her unmarried and childless after working abroad.

“I just sc@tt£r£d a relationship this morning and I'm so proud of it. How can a woman want a 50 million naira wedding?

That is the least she's given to you, and she doesn't have 1.5 million in her account. She doesn't have 1.5 million in her account but she wants a 50 million naira wedding.

My guy, you are a f*ol if you keep thinking that the wedding is your whole responsibility as a man.

The reason why these women are leaving you guys is because they are not investing. Anywhere somebody invests, their heart will be there.

You are doing a marriage, you are doing a wedding, you are living with your woman and you feel that you are the one to take care of all the financial responsibility.

My brother, the year that you cannot take care of it, what happens? That's where they leave you and you call them g*ld d!gg£rs, but you train them how to be g*ld d!gg£rs.

When you start dating a woman in 2026, make her understand, my dear, these gender role things are blurring out.

I don't mind as a man, no matter how rich I am, I will take care of my home or pay for someone to do it. I don't believe in men should do this, women should do that.

My dear, even though it's the small that you have, bring a percentage of your small, invest in the business.

The family, yes, it's a business, it's transactional. Invest in the relationship. A lot of you ladies, women, right, you'll be paying 100%.

Don't make the mistakes our fathers made. A lot of them are not where they are supposed to be right now because they took the whole responsibility of the family.

Just imagine one person taking responsibility for himself, his wife, his children, his own extended family. He has a mother, he has a father, then also taking care of the wife's extended family.

In this economy, even though you have it, don't do it. Let her contribute, women are working, let her work and the fruit of her labour need to be invested in the family.

How do you get to the level of marriage with a woman and she's tell
