I have never been interested in the endless debate about who is the greater footballer between Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. They are both extraordinary in ways few human beings will ever be.

But if you ask me why I feel drawn to Ronaldo, it has very little to do with football.

When I look at Cristiano Ronaldo, I don’t just see goals, trophies, or Ballon d’Ors. I see a man who refused to negotiate with mediocrity.

I see someone who understood that talent may open a door, but discipline keeps it open.

I see a man who trained when others celebrated, who stayed hungry after success, who kept showing up after failure, and who demanded more from himself long after the world had already crowned him.

He didn’t allow praise to make him comfortable. He didn’t allow criticism to make him quit.

He never felt comfortable on the seat of victories nor lowly on the floor of defeats.

Whether people loved him or hated him, he remained committed to one thing: becoming a better version of himself every single day.

That is what inspires me.

Messi fascinates me because he represents extraordinary natural genius. He does things that seem almost impossible, as though football simply flows through him.

But Ronaldo reminds me of something I need to remember every day: that relentless discipline can carry an ordinary boy to extraordinary heights.

That one can build themselves to something extraordinary from nothing.

His story tells me that greatness is not always inherited. Sometimes it is built. Repetition after repetition. Sacrifice after sacrifice. Decision after decision. With an unflinching discipline.

That’s why Ronaldo will always have my admiration.

Not because he plays football.

But because he became proof that a human being can build himself into a legend.

So, while others argue football, I’m drawn to something deeper. I’m learning and building and getting inspired and hoping that I will be able to be addictively committed to my own dreams as CR7 has been to his own.
