PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SWIFT HEALTH ORGANIZATION CONDEMN SEVERE FUNDAMENTAL HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSE AGAINST NURSE RUFUS FAVOUR MOJISOLA.
Nigeria, 12th September 2025.

Swift Health Organization, expresses profound dismay and outrage over the severe and egregious fundamental human rights abuses faced by Nurse Rufus Favour Mojisola, a Registered Nurse at Ekan Primary Health Center in Oke Ero Local Government, Kwara State. The abuses include but are not limited to harassment, intimidation, humiliation, physical assault, and psychoemotional trauma inflicted by the Officer in Charge (OIC), Ayinde Risikat, a Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW), and the Head of Department (HOD) of Health, Helen Bosede Olawuyi, also a CHEW.

According to the detailed professional complaint filed by Nurse Mojisola with the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Kwara State chapter, it won't be out of place if we construed her subjection to cruel and inhumane treatment to have been driven by apparent jealousy and envy. The specific incidents of abuse and mistreatment include:

- Being cruelly asked to kneel down in uniform for 2 hours in the HOD's office to plead with the OIC on Tuesday, 9th September 2025, followed by a brutal slap by the HOD, Helen Bosede Olawuyi.
- Being slapped again by the HOD, Helen Bosede Olawuyi, in the Chairman's office on Wednesday, 10th September 2025.
- Receiving abusive words and curses from the OIC in front of patients on Tuesdays, which are fixed immunization days (Tuesday 8th April, 2025, Tuesday 6th May, 2025, Tuesday 17th June, 2025, Tuesday 8th July, 2025).
- Unsafe medical practices in the facility, including the reuse of syringes after rinsing them with water for different patients, which violates patients' health
- Being issued a query letter with 11 questions deemed untrue by Nurse Mojisola and a transfer letter to a remote location with significant security concerns.

We vehemently condemn these egregious violations of fundamental human rights and professional ethics against Nurse Rufus Favour Mojisola.
Healthcare workers must be treated with dignity, respect, and professionalism to ensure they can deliver optimal care to patients in a safe and supportive environment.

Swift Health Organization strongly condemns these actions and inactions and calls on NANNM to take immediate, decisive, and thorough action to address this grave injustice. NANNM must swing into action to protect Nurse Mojisola's rights, ensure accountability for those responsible for these abuses, and uphold the dignity and safety of all nursing professionals.

We urgently urge NANNM, and the Local Government Service Commission of Kwara State to conduct a comprehensive and impartial investigation into these allegations, take necessary steps to prevent such incidents in the future, and ensure that the rights of Nurse Mojisola and all healthcare workers are protected.

E- Signed,
Swift Health Organization
