Brenda interviewed recent IUM graduate Mr Simaneka, where he shared his inspiring experience in Huawei’s Seeds for the Future programme in China and encouraged students to explore opportunities in ICT, innovation and digital skills development.

Today, we join the country in celebrating the birthday of Her Excellency Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, President of the Republic of Namibia. May your path ahead remain clear as you steer our nation toward a bright, sustainable future. ✨🇳🇦🎂

Huawei Namibia visited the International University of Management (IUM) Main Campus for the Huawei ICT Competition Roadshow, an initiative aimed at introducing students to exciting opportunities in information and communication technology (ICT), innovation and digital skills development.

The roadshow provided a platform for Huawei representatives and IUM to share insights into emerging technologies and encourage students to participate in the Huawei ICT Competition.
Among those present was recent IUM graduate Mr Simaneka, who travelled to China to attend Huawei’s Seeds for the Future flagship ICT programme. He was the first and only IUM student to participate in the programme, marking a significant milestone for the university.

Reflecting on his experience in China, Mr Simaneka described it as amazing, highlighting the opportunity to learn about cutting edge technologies and explore innovative ICT gadgets. He further shared that the programme exposed participants to various ICT sectors, including 5G private network solutions and future communications technologies, broadening their understanding of the rapidly evolving technology landscape.

His experience serves as an inspiration to IUM students, demonstrating the value of pursuing opportunities that expand technical knowledge, encourage innovation, and provide international exposure.

Through the Huawei ICT Competition Roadshow, Huawei and IUM continue to highlight the importance of developing digital skills and nurturing future ICT professionals. All IUM students are encouraged to apply for the Huawei ICT Competition and take advantage of opportunities to enhance their knowledge, showcase their talents and contribute to Namibia’s growing digital economy.
