In malaria elimination, mothers matter. A lot.
Because malaria doesn’t just attack health systems. It creeps into homes. It threatens pregnancies. It steals school days. It keeps children from growing, playing, learning and becoming everything they are meant to be.
At Goodbye Malaria, we believe every child deserves to sleep safely, wake up healthy and grow up with a future wide open.
And today, we celebrate the helping make that possible, with love, grit, instinct and heart.
Here’s to the moms.
The everyday protectors.
The ones who carry the care and courage.
The reason so many children get another bright, beautiful tomorrow.
Happy Mother’s Day from Goodbye Malaria. 💛

Today is .
And from Maputo, the message is clear:
Now we can. Now we must.
We have the tools.
We have the partnerships.
We have the evidence.
We have African leadership driving solutions that work.
But malaria will not end because the world hopes it will.
It will end because we choose urgency over delay. Action over intention. Partnership over silos.
This week, leaders, implementers, innovators, funders, private sector partners and country teams have gathered in Mozambique to ask a simple but defining question:
What must we do now to move from progress to elimination?
The answer starts here.
African-led. Regionally connected. Built for impact.
Now we can. Now we must.
Every Bead Counts…

What a week. ❤️🇲🇿
We recently had the absolute joy of hosting a very special group of Nandocas from in Mozambique, and what a fun, meaningful, heart-filling few days it was.
From stepping inside the insectary, to visiting the chilli farm (Maxamba) where the Goodbye Malaria story first began, born out of the need to protect the farmers growing Nando’s chilli, to spending time in the communities where our teams work every day, this trip was full of connection, learning and unforgettable moments.
One of the most special parts was visiting the home of one of our spray operators, where the group met her and her children and saw the human side of this work up close. The kind of moment that stays with you.
We also saw the realities communities continue to face. We witnessed the devastation caused by the floods earlier this year, and even experienced more flooding ourselves while in Maputo. It was a powerful reminder of why resilient health systems, strong communities and sustained support matter so much.
But alongside all of that, there was also so much joy.
So much laughter.
So much curiosity.
So much heart.
Our UK visitors got to experience the magic of Mozambique; its beauty, its energy, its colour, and the incredible warmth of its people. And yes, there was plenty of fun along the way too.
This group is especially close to our hearts because they continue to go above and beyond for Goodbye Malaria. Through Nando’s Fighting Malaria in the UK, staff have raised funds through campaigns, events and creative fundraising initiatives, all helping support the Global Fund-backed MOSASWA Regional Grant.
To our UK Nandocas: thank you for showing up with such open hearts, for backing this work, for bringing the energy, and for reminding us that purpose and fun can absolutely travel together.
Mozambique, you were magic ♥️
