Camp Lagoa

Camp lagoa is set on the edge of Lake Sugi in Ponta Malongane, Mozambique, it is a hidden gem destination tucked away under natures wing.. Included on the land is 2 acres of Lake shore forestry, surrounded by 3 sides of active wetlands., the camp is a recreational dream come true. Frequented by a plethora of bird and wildlife during the day and Our nocturnal family at night, which includes our hippos, bushbabies and resident owls. Natural walkways are accessible for self walks however, One walk in particular follows the hippo trail and you would need a guide to es**rt you. The lake is teaming with life and you will have front row seats. Located only 23klm from the Kosi bay border, the camp is accessible year round by way of a new tar road via Ponta do ouro , a small airstrip 8 km south and Shuttle services for border pick ups and Game reserve tours. A 4 x 4 is not entirely needed to access our camp, as long as you have a diff lock, raised suspension and deflated tires. Our camp can sleep 14 guests and we pride ourselves on our privacy among nature.
7 Authentic cottages , all set around our ancient trees, adorn the property. All of which have been constructed using only materials found in and around the lake to give you a traditional experience here in Mozambique. Our units are set with queen beds and single beds, fans and mosquito nets. Each room has its own indoor basil plant for the freshest smell while you sleep. On top of the great sleep you will have, our beds and window sills have been leveled for that little extra view while you are relaxing after your long day. We have not called ourselves Camp lagoa for nothing, as we also have 5 amazing private Lake view campsites. Each campsite has its very own toilet and shower within the main ablution. You can feel free to leave your toiletries in your own space. Our campsites are all set on lawn under shade and we provide a fire place with a grid, cleaning services and a double plug power point…All our guests have access to whatever we are growing on the land in that season. Other improvements include Self catering kitchens outside all units, Private toilet ablutions, access to our fruit and vegetable gardens, Freshly delivered bread each morning and an invitation to live free as our birds. Talking about birds, that's our speciality and if you are as wild about your birding as we are then you will come to the right place. Over 150 species so far have been recorded in our camp alone. Our building style has included leaving nature in its balance by not cutting down vital grasslands and providing perched water stations outside of each unit. Our land is blessed with a wide variety of fruiting trees from passion fruits, amarula, Paw Paws, banana, mulberry’s and water berries, all holding our birds happy and well fed. We have 3 self guided birding walking trails available and many bird books for your reference. All our units have a deadwood tree’s that are perched upon by our local family of fisheagles and occasionally a surprise bird of prey. We are a nature loving camp and this includes our furry friends. , in fact our pets have made many friends and you and your pets are welcome. The only pets we cant accept im afraid are lions, Snakes and crocodiles :)…and spiders

One of the most remarkable features of our camp tho, is it’s central location to all our towns amenities. With 13 restaurants and bars within a 300m walking range , our camp let’s your car have a holiday as-well. Lets not forget that you can walk through our camp to our neighbors swimming pool and Bar where you can enjoy the lake whilst having a cocktail and grabbing a bite to eat. Recreationaly , the camp has boundless opportunities . with excellent reefs for scuba diving enthusiast just over the hill, as well as avid bird watching and guided nature trails... Ponta Malongane has it all. Did you know that only 7 countries in the world permit swimming with wild dolphins? And you can enjoy this amazing experience right here with us in Mozambique.
