I am British/Mozambican who has lived in different countries over the past 31 years, working working in different sectors and raising a family that is culturally and linguistically diverse. The last 19 years I have been in my favourite place, Maputo. Through personal and vicarious experience I was aware of the limited psychosocial and emotional support for English speakers in Maputo and further afield in Mozambique. I provide support for those struggling with stressful life situations/events/challenges and/or experiencing physiological symptoms of accumulated stress and anxiety, impairing daily cognitive, emotional and psychological functioning.......or for those needing a confidential, non-judgemental space to work through and explore their feelings, options for change or solutions to their current stuckness. I work within a fast developing, interdisciplinary network in Maputo, and internationally online. I refer clients to a professional within this network should my scope of practice not be suitable for the client. It is important to note that I support clients with psychosocial and emotional challenges and have the training to identify psycho-pathologies and psychological disorders, however, I am not permitted to diagnose and treat these. I am ethically bound to refer the client to the appropriate professional (clinical psychologist, psychiatrist or medical doctor). Also outside my scope of practice is psychometric testing and analysis.
