As soil temperatures increase, nutrient release generally occurs at a faster rate. Conversely, cooler conditions slow the release process, extending nutrient availability over a longer period.

This is because warmer temperatures increase the permeability of the polymer coating, allowing water to move through the membrane more easily. At the same time, nutrient solubility and diffusion rates within the granule increase, accelerating nutrient movement through the coating and into the surrounding soil.

Understanding this relationship is essential when designing coating technologies that deliver consistent and predictable performance across different climates and growing conditions.

A well-engineered coating system helps ensure nutrients are released in synchrony with crop demand, improving nutrient use efficiency and supporting sustainable crop production.
