Honoured to welcome Securities Commission Malaysia Executive Chairman, Dato’ Mohammad Faiz Azmi, and his team on their first visit to the Silicon Design & Incubation Space TechSpace yesterday. The visit provided an opportunity to exchange insights on Penang’s growing semiconductor ecosystem, key initiatives such as Penang Silicon Design + and Penang ATE Campus, and potential collaborations with InvestPenang to advance Malaysia further up the semiconductor value chain through capital enablement.

During the session, seven incubatee companies showcased and demonstrated their prototype IPs, chips, and design wins, followed by a dedicated closed-door session with eight local IC design company CEOs from Channel Microsystems, FILPAL, GreatAsic Technology, Infinecs Systems Sdn. Bhd., Oppstar, Silicon X, SkyeChip and Sophic Automation Sdn Bhd. The discussion offered valuable perspectives, with exchanges on both the opportunities and challenges faced in scaling local IC design businesses, particularly in accessing growth capital needed to expand and compete globally.

InvestPenang looks forward to working together with SC to help address these challenges and support the growth of Malaysia’s IC design champions.
