Do you know that, your child is not actively learning when they are watching a video?

They don't remember the things they see in the video. They only collect short term memories.

On the other hand, they can learn a whole bunch through life experiences.

For e.g. you can show a video of different type of plants, how they grow and what fruits they produce. But your child will not remember it for long.
But if you take him out after that and show real plants, touch the roots, smell the leaves, it's more meaningful for them.

Not just that, It will trigger more questions, for e.g. why are the colour of most flowers are bright?
Does tree drink water?
How do they eat?

These questions will lead them to learn deeper. When this happens, your job is to lead them to discover the answers... Not give it to them.

Ramadhan Journey: "I am Thankful For"

For our Ramadhan daily activity and reflection, we read this book today: The Girl That Says Alhamdulillah by Rabia Gelgi

Here is an idea of what you can do with your family after reading the book. Ask each one to say "Alhamdulillah for one thing that day"

Here is our version:

Me: Alhamdulillah for the tasty dessert that our neighbour sent. (Badak berendam)
Raudhah:Alhamdulillah, I am able to fast today
Nusrah: Alhamdulillah everyone loves my cooking today.
Kauthar: Alhamdulillah I get to learn with Mom.
Umar: Alhamdulilah I really love my family
Muhammad: Alhamdulillah I have lots of toys.
Bilal: Alhamdulillah today I get to eat ayah's pizza and chicken!

Try it, you'll be amazed at how much Allah has given us... Alhamdulillah!
