30 minutes of prep. 20 minutes to show your magnetism.
Don't waste your morning in a panic. I always suggest curating your wardrobe and accessories in harmony the night before. This gives you the space to focus on your "tresses and makeup," allowing you to step out cool, collected, and composed.
Once you arrive, try my "Success Benchmark": the 20-Minute Magnetism Test. If your presence is grounded and your image is on point, someone should approach you within the first 20 minutes. If they don't, it’s not a failure—it’s simply a sign that your image needs a little more refinement.
And when that conversation starts? Please, avoid the transactional "What do you do for a living?"
Instead, try: "What’s keeping you busy lately?" or "What brings you here today?"
Small shifts, intentional choices. That is how you show up with Presence and Essence.
The Philosophy of Moving Forward
Low marks AGAIN?
The Art of Moving Forward: Lessons from Low Marks Again (1952).
When I watch the scene in Low Marks Again (1952), I see the weight of disappointment on the mother and the silent, high expectations of the sister. But then, I look at the younger brother and the dog. They are oblivious to the "failure" because they live at a place of pure connection and hope.
Why do we as humans fixate on the "low marks" when we have the agency to change the narrative?
In my 25 years of corporate experience and 19 years in the image industry, I have learned to distinguish between two types of mistakes:
Irreversible mistakes: These are the actions that carry heavy consequences for ourselves and others, where the impact is lasting and cannot be undone. We must always exercise caution and integrity to avoid these. For instance, driving on the road…..
Reversible mistakes: Most of the "failures" we fear—a poor grade, a professional setback, been betrayed or a career misstep—are simply lessons. They are reversible because we have the capacity to learn, improve, seek advice, and create new ways and ideas to reach our goals. Starting over is possible...We don't need to stay trapped in the disappointment. Like the young boy, we can learn from the mistake, seek the right guidance, and realize that we are capable of evolving.
True growth isn't about being perfect; it's about the gradual refinement of our character and our skills. It’s about having the courage to face our mistakes, own them, and keep moving forward.
If you could tell your younger self one thing about the "mistakes" that felt like the end of the world, what would it be?
