Some watches tell the time.

Back in 1985, Citizen did something quite extraordinary —
they put an electronic depth sensor into a wristwatch.
That watch became the legendary
Citizen Aqualand,
the world’s first dive watch capable of measuring and displaying diving depth.
For many divers, it wasn’t just a watch.
It was a real underwater instrument.
Forty years later, the
Citizen Promaster Aqualand 40th Anniversary JP2008-06E arrives.
What makes it special is not how different it looks.
But how little it changed.
The iconic depth sensor at 9 o’clock,
the bold luminous markers,
the unmistakable tool-watch character —
it all feels like a direct echo from the original 1985 design.
Almost like a piece of equipment preserved through time.
In the world of dive watches, many models become more luxurious with time.
But the Aqualand has always stayed true to its purpose.
Not flashy.
Not complicated.
Just quietly doing what it was built for:
Telling the time.
And telling you how deep you are.
Perhaps that’s why, for many collectors and divers,
Aqualand never really became “vintage”.
It simply never left.
Forty years underwater.
