John 19:28
Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.”

The Creator of the universe—the One who spoke water into existence, who split seas and summoned rain—expresses a physical need.

He who satisfied the thirst of thousands with a word now asks for a drink. He who is the Living Water becomes parched. The hands that formed galaxies cannot reach the cup. Someone must bring it to His lips.

_This is humility stripped bare._

_The Almighty becomes dependent. The Giver becomes the receiver._

If Jesus could admit His thirst—His need, His dependence—why do we pretend we have none? We pretend we are fine when we are empty. We hide our hunger behind busyness and our thirst behind accomplishment.

But Jesus shows us a different way: to name our need. To ask. To receive from others. To thirst for God like parched ground waiting for rain.

Day 1

Luke 23:34
Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”
The first word from the cross is a prayer for the ones driving the nails. Not a curse. Not a cry for justice. Just. Forgiveness.

They knew exactly what they were doing—and still, Jesus said they did not know what they were doing. He saw beyond their actions to their blindness. He made space for mercy.

If Jesus could pray this for His executioners, what grudges am I still holding?
