CATCHING BLUE SEA & SKY
Acrylic on canvas
Autism and Art

By Dave Hwang
18 years old

---

This piece is especially meaningful as it is Dave's first exploration of painting with pallete knife.

As a student with autism, Dave brings a unique sensitivity to color and texture, offering a perspective that is both gentle and with hope.

"The birds bring dreams and achievement, the vast sky reflects the nurturing space of the school, while the window gives hope and the possibilities ahead."

Presented with appreciation and gratitude to his Principal on the occasion of retirement, though Dave may not express it in words, this painting carries his heartfelt thank you.

Thank you Cikgu for your years of dedication, guidance, and care in shaping the lives of students.

Each piece 👗👕👖 on the line carries care ❤️; washed, hung, and warmed by the sun of family love.

Transition from animal themes to flowers and even to 🏡 are never immediate in our “Autism & Art” learning.

It requires time, and many quiet discussions with them. Most of the time, the answer is a big ‘NO’ at the beginning.

Joshua’s path reflects this same process, yet gradually he begins to embrace new themes and challenges beyond his comfort zone. Something beautiful is unfolding slowly now.

Thanks God for every small step of growth, even the smallest signs of change that carry so much meaning. 🥰

A GIFT OF COLOR,
A HEART OF LOVE.

"I want to show this 🐦 painting to mommy later," he said with a smile. 😊

---

In this simple yet meaningful moment, we witness the purest form of love from Meng Hao.

Art becomes a bridge between child and parent, a language beyond words, where pride, effort, and affection are gently expressed.

As parents, we don’t just see a painting; we see growth.
Each piece is a milestone, a window into a child’s inner world.

For this young teen, every brushstroke is more than practice. It is his way of saying:
“This is what I see, this is what I feel while I paint, and this is for you, Daddy and Mommy.”

In the meeting of nature, youth, and love, art becomes a memory, something to hold, to cherish, and to carry from the art room into the heart of home.

Good job, son! 🥰

LIVE with Inner Light 🌊🐢

A little sea turtle,
breaks free from the sand and follows the light, step by step
toward the ocean, where its life truly begins.

---

Like a little sea turtle, an autistic child may begin quietly, moving at their own pace yet guided by an inner light.

For Dave, each step may seem small, but it carries courage and meaning, leading him forward to a world where he belong. ☀️
