At least six children were arrested under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA) in February 2026!!!
Detaining minors under a national security law sidesteps protections under the Child Act 2001 and violates the principle under the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) that the detention of children must be a measure of last resort.
MCCHR stands in solidarity with SUARAM in calling for the immediate release of the children held under SOSMA. Free the children from SOSMA. ✊🏽
