When I think back to the year 2001, growing up in Fort Smith, Arkansas, I could have never imagined that one day I would be living on the other side of the world, making a living playing a brass instrument. It has truly been a blessing, and along the way God has placed so many incredible and influential people in my life.

Hal Cooper was one of those people.

I was a double major in Trombone and Euphonium at the great Arkansas Tech University for two years, where I had the privilege of studying under the baton of Mr. Cooper.

Mr. Cooper taught me lessons in musicianship that I still carry with me to this day. I will always be grateful for his encouragement and for believing in a random kid from Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Thank you, Mr. Cooper, for all that you gave to us while you were here, and for the lasting memory you leave behind in all the lives you touched.

Rest In Power Mr. Cooper.

Happy Birthday to my first album, Duel Citizenship! 🎉

In 2015, I remember sitting in my apartment with Ghazale and Manisha years ago, getting gently (and not-so-gently) pestered to release some music. I finally confessed—I had actually recorded a full album... just never released it. Naturally, they demanded to hear it. I played a few tracks, and their response was immediate and heartfelt:

“This is really good. You have to put this out.”

As someone who’s been a little self-conscious about sharing my work, that encouragement was exactly the push I needed.

From there, things began to take shape. A meeting with led to and jumping in to support the release. got excited about building some unconventional storytelling through music videos. I discovered a gem of a collaborator in my former MPO colleague and wonderful cellist , who brought something truly special to the visuals.

lent her incredible voice to “Guilty Room,” and together we ended up nominated for a few AIM Awards. Ghazale created the artwork, hosted the album launch, and musicians from New York to Kuala Lumpur poured their hearts into the project—led by Manisha and the powerhouse Mtalent team.

Duel Citizenship was a deeply personal milestone, and I’ll always hold that moment close. Thank you to everyone who helped bring it to life, and to all who continue to walk with me on this journey. I appreciate you more than words can say. 💙
