iPhone 14 Pro Max suddenly can’t on right after out of apple’s warranty? Is that even normal?

Today I’d like to share a repair case, where owner of this phone went to apple authorized service provider to diagnose & check but ended up without any disappointment and was offered another unit, same model by trade-in this faulty unit plus topping up a substantial amount.

Owner was frustrated, and according to the owner, there are important data in the phone which needs to be recovered, and thus the owner found us on google search, and visit us to see if there is hope of recovering the data.

As we can see, the first thing we check is the charging current which is abnormal and there is not any sign of charging current which indicates, highly likely, a motherboard current leaking issue.

Just as expected, classic issue motherboard current leaking, causing the phone can’t be turned on due to a chip failure.

After replacing the faulty chip finally the phone can be turned on with all the data intact. We are so delighted that we were able to recover the data for the owner.

iPhone 13 suddenly can’t turn on after drop damage? Owner mentioned that the phone was so hot, and can’t turn on and can’t even charge. So owner found us on google, and came over and we did a simple diagnostic to see if there was any kind of current leaks or short circuit, and indeed there was a large current consumption which indicates current leaking, which also means that there is short circuit somewhere on the phone.

Most of the time large current leaking is mostly on logic board itself, and so we use our thermal cam to see if we can find the heat spot or short circuit and yes we finally found it!

With owner’s approval, we did proceed the repair. As you can see, its just a small capacitor short circuit, smaller than a grain of rice, is causing the phone can’t on.

And luckily for the owner, after we have settled the short circuit, the phone finally can be turned on without any data loss.
