The Executive Director has launched the Poultry Market Study pursuant to Section 30 of the Competition Act, to review the conditions of competition in the sector.
The study has been initiated to better understand the competition dynamics across the poultry supply chain which involves the farming, production and supply of chicken meat and eggs.
The Executive Director has launched the Poultry Market Study to better understand the competition dynamics across the poultry supply chain which involves the farming, production and supply of chicken meat and eggs. It will assess the market structure, regulatory framework and conduct of operators, including pricing and the commercial relationship between large poultry operators and contract growers.
The market study is intended to inform potential policy recommendations and/or enforcement actions. It is to be highlighted that the launch of a market study does not indicate findings of anti-competitive conduct by any operator.

The Executive Director of the Competition Commission welcomed members of the media today to a press briefing held on 01 June 2026 to explain the features, operation and benefits of the recently launched ๐ง๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ ๐๐๐๐ผ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ผ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ ๐๐บ๐ป๐ฒ๐๐๐ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐บ๐บ๐ฒ (๐ง๐๐๐๐ฃ).
In his opening remarks, ๐ ๐ฟ ๐ฉ๐ถ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ป ๐ก๐ฎ๐๐ด๐ฎ๐ต, ๐๐
๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐บ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐บ๐บ๐ถ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป, highlighted that TACAP serves as both an enforcement and compliance tool, providing an avenue for businesses to regularize past conduct through self-reporting, strengthen competition compliance, and help restore competition in markets. The Executive Director also emphasized the important role of the media in raising awareness of TACAP, enhancing understanding of its requirements, and enabling the business community to make informed decisions regarding participation in the programme.
It is recalled that TACAP emanates from the โCompetition Commission Trade Association and Cooperatives Amnesty Programme Regulations 2026 (GN 53 of 2026)โ which became operational on 25 May 2026 and will remain valid until 25 November 2026.
